2009 Emerging Dynasty Prospects - Part 2
It looks as though Matt Jones has put his past behind him.  In an interview with Sirius Satellite Radio a few weeks ago, it was clear his maturity and devotion to football was quite evident.  Jones is on this list purely because he has been basically written off most of the minds of fantasy players.
Why we want Jones on our Dynasty roster:  He finally gave a glimpse of his potential in 2008 with 65 receptions and nearly 800 receiving yards in only 12 games, a season cut short by league suspension.  Jones was on track for an 80 receptions and 1,000 yard season - legit fantasy numbers.  A 6'6" and 218 lbs, he has the frame of a Tight End that is lining up as a WR.  This matchup would be a problem for any defensive player. Keep in mind he was a QB in college and has learned the WR position on the job. Assuming he has in fact re-dedicated himself, he could finally utilize some of his untapped potential.
What to expect:  During the interview Jones was priding himself on his development as a route runner and further learning his craft.  Provided he finds a team in 2009 - which he likely will - he will be a viable low #2/high #3 WR option.  In time, or on a team that needs a big receiver (ie Jets, Ravens) his value rises significantly.

Earl Bennett has yet to catch a ball in the NFL.
Why we want Bennett on our Dynasty roster:  The receiving corps in Chicago is relatively weak with only Devin Hester standing in the way of earning a #1 WR job.  And while Greg Olsen is slated to be the teams top receiving option in 2009, there should be plenty of footballs to go around now that Jay Cutler brought his cannon arm to Chicago - probably more so than the Bears want at this time.  With Cutler's knack for turning WR's into studs, it only seems appropriate that Bennett, his former teammate at Vanderbilt could emerge as a reliable target in 2009.
What to expect:  Bennett is having a nice training camp, establishing himself as the Bears starting flanker.  Reports that he will remain on the field in the slot for 3 receiver sets is a good indication that the Bears envision a productive season for this 2nd year player.

Jermichael Finley is in a nice situation in Green Bay.  Stud QB Aaron Rodgers will likely find Finley a nice receiving compliment to Greg Jennings in 2009.
Why we want Finley on our Dynasty roster:  Plain and simple, Donald Lee has limited upside.  Meanwhile, Finley is a 6'5" beast that has done nothing but impress in 2009 training camp.  His roadblock has been his blocking ability, but he's seems to have impressed coaches with his improved skill set.  When Aaron Rodgers calls you unguardable, that is a pretty solid endorsement.
What to expect:  Don't acquire Finley as your #1 TE, at least not yet.  He's super athletic and has the size to be a legit red zone target.  500-600 yards with 5-6 TD's is not an unreasonable number to expect while he continues to learn the position.  His upside is higher than that, making him an ideal TE2 on your dynasty roster.

The #1 Running Back on the Raiders depth chart is not Michael Bush.  Neither is the RB2. However, the most powerful RB and best dynasty value is the 3rd year player out of University of Louisville.
Why we want Bush on our Dynasty roster: The Oakland RB situation is in the process of sorting itself out.  McFadden is a talent, but whether he is a prototypical NFL RB is yet to be seen.  The sneaky upside here is shaping up for Bush.  He's a big, young and powerful RB that has the athleticisim to break a long run or push the pile on the goal line.  A perfect compliment to the versatile McFadden.  Aging Justin Fargas still has some credibility in Oakland, but his time there is short lived.
What to expect:  Bush is a good player that has been getting some legit hype.  He's not going to be your #1 RB, and probably not your #2.  A combination of average yardage totals, approximately 8 TD's and the occasional huge game, he could easily become the most coveted #3 RB by the end of 2009.

Chaz Schilens is fast.  He's also 6'4".  This is a dangerous combination in the NFL.  With very little developed WR talent in Oakland, there is opportunity for Schilens to step up.  If JaMarcus Russell ever figures it out, the Raiders receivers immediately will go from zero to hero.
Why we want Schilens on our Dynasty Roster:  Schilens showed some promise late 2008, coincidently at the same time Russell seemed to break out of his shell.  It wan't against the best defenses, and it was late in the season, but he did manage to close the season with a TD in two straight games.  Despite catching only 15 balls in 2008, in games where he had at least 3 receptions, he averaged an impressive 19.3 ypc.
What to expect: Shilens has reportedly been the best receiver at training camp.  With Darrius Heyward-Bey failing to step up it's looking more and more like Schilens will be lining up as the #1 in 2009.  Schilens in this role is capable of catching 60+ balls and Russell's go-to red zone target.
