2009 Week 16 - Top 50 RB

Back to Rankings   -   Print

1.      Chris Johnson - Titans
home vs. Chargers: The quest for 2,000 continues...

2.      Adrian Peterson - Vikings
@ Bears: It was tough sledding for AP in his earlier matchup with Chicago, even though he managed 85 yards and a TD. Expect a repeat of that stat line, but he will more than likely beat it.

3.      Maurice Jones-Drew - Jaguars
@ Patriots: MJD rebounded last week after 4 straight mediocre performances. More of the same against a Patriots D that cannot stop the run or the pass.

4.      Frank Gore - 49ers
home vs. Lions: Back to back 100 yard games for the first time all season. Good to see they are not abandoning the run completely. Great matchup here.

5.      Ray Rice - Ravens
@ Steelers: Pittsburgh can be beast through the air, but Ray Rice will get his chances on the ground as well.

6.      Cedric Benson - Bengals
home vs. Chiefs: The Bengals have looked to pound the ball against mediocre opponents, which the Chiefs are. The only problem would be if Matt Cassel and Co. put up some points early.

7.      Ricky Williams - Dolphins
home vs. Texans: You have to like what Ricky has done since Ronnie Brown got hurt. Continue to roll with him as an RB1.

8.      Rashard Mendenhall - Steelers
home vs. Ravens: Managed 95 rushing yards against the Ravens in Week 12. Was more involved in the passing game in Week 15, making him a borderline RB1.

9.      Thomas Jones - Jets
@ Colts: Jones got bottled up last week against the Falcons, but he should be back to his Top 10 self this week. Expect him to make something of his 20+ carries.

10.      Steven Jackson - Rams
@ Cardinals: Nothing can stop S-Jax. Not back spasms. Not a terrible offense around him. Not even the swine flu. Maybe the Cardinals can though, because they are pretty good against the run.

11.      Chris Wells - Cardinals
home vs. Rams: The St. Louis Run defense is in the bottom quarter of the league and Beanie feasted on the Lions last week. He has become the main ball carrier in this offense.

12.      Ryan Grant - Packers
home vs. Seahawks: Grant has been an above average RB2 this season and that should continue this week against Seattle.

13.      Jamaal Charles - Chiefs
@ Bengals: A big test for the 2nd year back, we will see exactly how beastly he can be against a tough run defense.

14.      Ladainian Tomlinson - Chargers
@ Titans: Tennessee poses a tough matchup for the aging LT2, but he could find the endzone in this one.

15.      Knowshon Moreno - Broncos
@ Eagles: Two mediocre outings for Knowshon and a tough matchup against the Eagles here. He is an RB3 at best this week.

16.      Joseph Addai - Colts
home vs. Jets: New York represents a tough matchup for Addai, who has been a surprisingly solid contributor this season. Lean on him if you would, but remember that his performances are predicated on having a nasty offense around him.

17.      Jonathan Stewart - Panthers
@ Giants: If Williams sits out, J-Stew becomes a high upside RB2. He was impressive against the Viks last week.

18.      Pierre Thomas - Saints
home vs. Bucs: What would he be without Mike Bell? Probably a Top 10 back. But Mike Bell does not appear to be going anywhere, making him typically a risky fantasy play. This week, however, there is enough to go around on the ground.

19.      Brandon Jacobs - Giants
home vs. Panthers: Carolinas run defense is not strong, so BJ could find the endzone. Maybe even his first 100 yard performance of the season...

20.      Ahmad Bradshaw - Giants
home vs. Panthers: Jacobs is still the RB1 for the G-Men, but Bradshaw is the upside play.

21.      Laurence Maroney - Patriots
home vs. Jaguars: Maroney is a viable RB2 or FLEX play in most leagues. Solid production of late.

22.      Fred Jackson - Bills
@ Falcons: Fred Jax has only scored rushing TDs in one game this season, but he remains a solid FLEX option because he can gain yardage and is involved in the passing game.

23.      Maurice Morris - Lions
@ 49ers: MoMo put up quite the stat line last week. He could be a productive FLEX play this week as well.

24.      Jerome Harrison - Browns
home vs. Raiders: Jerome may have solidified himself as the man in Cleveland with his Week 15 performance, but this is Eric Mangini we are dealing with.

25.      Marion Barber III - Cowboys
@ Redskins: Had his first multiple rushing TD game since Week 1 of 2008 last week. Redskins run defense is tough, but he could sneak into the endzone.

26.      Matt Forte - Bears
home vs. Vikings: Yes, Jonathan Stewart just ran for 100 yards on the Viks D, but Forte is not as talented and has done nothing this season to inspire any kind of hope.

27.      DeAngelo Williams - Panthers
@ Giants: Questionable, check the injury report.

28.      Jason Snelling - Falcons
home vs. Bills: Looks like Turner could be out again and that makes Snelling the main guy.

29.      Reggie Bush - Saints
home vs. Bucs: He is unreliable, but has some potential because the Bucs are that terrible.

30.      Tim Hightower - Cardinals
home vs. Rams: only 14 carries the past three weeks combined and the writing is on the wall. It says Beanie.

31.      Justin Forsett - Seahawks
@ Packers: A formidable run defense and a questionable amount of touches makes Forsett very risky.

32.      Leonard Weaver - Eagles
home vs. Broncos: Got 17 carries last week. Could remain the main option this week with McCoy and Westy stealing a few carries.

33.      Quinton Ganther - Redskins
home vs. Cowboys: If you are desperate, but this is the playoffs and you can hopefully do better.

34.      Julius Jones - Seahawks
@ Packers: Not so much.

35.      Arian Foster - Texans
@ Dolphins: Apparently, Gary Kubiak does not like fumbles. He still likes Foster, but Arian is risky at best.

36.      LeSean McCoy - Eagles
home vs. Broncos: Losing touches to Weaver and now maybe Westbrook. Not recommended.

37.      Marshawn Lynch - Bills
@ Falcons: What exactly happened here?

38.      Cadillac Williams - Bucs
@ Saints: His Kelley Blue Book value is not that high.

39.      Mike Bush - Raiders
@ Browns: The most talented RB in Oakland, but who knows what Coach Cable is going to do. That makes him risky, despite obvious talent.

40.      Ryan Moats - Texans
@ Dolphins: If the past three games are any indication, Moats should be good for about 40 yards and has an outside shot at scoring a TD.

41.      Chester Taylor - Vikings
@ Bears: Could get some 4th quarter carries if this one turns ugly.

42.      Felix Jones - Cowboys
@ Redskins: Double digit carries in each of his last two games, but Felix is a tough play here.

43.      Darren McFadden - Raiders
@ Browns: Sadly last weeks 74 yards was the most rushing yards he has had all season (and the 2nd highest of his career). He is not much of a fantasy option, even with an inviting matchup.

44.      Mike Bell - Saints
home vs. Bucs: Value killer.

45.      Jerious Norwood - Falcons
home vs. Bills: Not exactly making himself any money in a contract season.

46.      Derrick Ward - Bucs
@ Saints: 67 yards on 19 carries. Yup, that was a season high. Expecting more than that would be foolish from this one year wonder.

47.      Shonn Greene - Jets
@ Colts: Not too many touches and no fantasy relevance at the moment.

48.      Kevin Faulk - Patriots
home vs. Jags: Not many touches and subsequently not much production.

49.      Chris Jennings - Browns
home vs. Raiders: You never know.

50.      Darren Sproles - Chargers
@ Titans: And to think, he was franchised.
