2010 Emerging Dynasty Prospects - Part 2
When the Jets moved up in the 2009 NFL Draft to select Mark Sanchez #5 overall, the hard knock against them was making an aggressive move for a player who had only recorded 16 collegiate starts while attending USC. Sanchez is progressing nicely and has validated the bold move by the Jets organization in selecting what many considered to be yet another risky draft selection for the organization. Why we want Mark Sanchez on our Dynasty Roster: Mark Sanchez is emerging before our eyes. The Jets have clearly loosened the reigns on the 23 year old QB, and his growth is visible from week to week. Sanchez is an intriguing Dynasty Prospect that can currently be acquired for significantly less than his eventual Dynasty value. His numbers haven't been gaudy in his second season, but through 5 games he has yet to throw an interception, and has found favorite target in Dustin Keller (monster). Lets not forget Santonio Holmes will provide another nice weapon in the deep passing game - a play the Jets like to run 5-7 times per game. It's all about perceived vs. actual value here and the window is closing quickly. In his first season, Sanchez gained legit NFL experience, most specifically a deep run into the playoffs. Where he lacks in arm strength that is comparable to the big-boys, he has already shown during a brief tenure that he's a gym rat and highly devoted to film study. He has the intangibles to succeed at the NFL level and be a solid fantasy QB.
What to Expect: Sanchez is an athletic quarterback that is going to post some serious fantasy points over his career. It just may be a few years before we see his full potential as the Jets under Rex Ryan will maintain a conservative rushing attack. By the end of 2010, the Jets will have a good idea of what they have in the Sanchize and subsequently will continue to surround him with offensive talent. His ability to extend plays out of the pocket will hide the fact his arm strength is not in the company of Aaron Rodgers or Jay Cutler. It is definitely way too early to draw a comparison to Drew Brees, however it is definitely time to start thinking that the potential is there and to make a move. Last chance to buy low. Go get him.

The hype train surrounding the NFL Draft is larger than ever. With player evaluation at a level like never before, every single aspect of a prospects life is evaluated. Well guess what? It seems that most of the league undervalued a ridiculous skill set for a immature young man's character issues. The Tampa Bay Bucs and Mike Williams are currently smiling.
Why we want Mike Williams on our Dynasty Roster: He has size, speed and skill set to be an elite WR. 3 years from now, many will consider the selection of Mike Williams in the 4th round of the 2010 NFL Draft to be the biggest steal of that class. Mike Williams quit his team while at Syracuse - for reasons that are still not fully known. Plain and simple, this caused a freakishly good athlete with 1st Round Talent a whole lot of money in his rookie contract. The Bucs are enjoying the cheap cost of the Rookie talent that has already contributed with 19 catches, 238 yards and 3 TD's through four games. There are many more to come, believe us....
What to Expect: The Bucs are one of the youngest squads in the league and are not particularly good (for now). The Bucs have one of the leagues most intriguing developmental QB projects in Josh Freeman (a BeastOrBust Dynasty Favorite), a player with a gigantic arm with the playmaking ability of Warren Moon. The Bucs also drafted a talented wideout in Arrelious Benn in the same class, a player that reminds us of Anquan Boldin. So what do we see here in 2012? A ridiculous offensive unit led by Mike Williams contributing heavily at the X-receiving spot. Mike Williams is a player folks and his Dynasty prospects are way up.
-------------------------
Plain and simple, Sam Bradford is the real deal. We don't recall seeing this kind of production and poise from a Rookie QB, ever. Especially one playing with a severe lack of weapons that has stepped in from Day one and taken control of an offense.
Why we want Sam Bradford on our Dynasty Roster: Sam Bradford entered the NFL after missing an entire season of playing collegiate football. He entered the draft as an underclassmen, and is currently on pace for 3,700 yards and 25 TD's. Whoa! So much for a steep learning curve at the games most difficult position. Yes, the INT's are going to be there this year, but that is part of being a rookie QB and with his pedigree he will likely cut his rookie total in half by his 3rd season. His upside is that of a Top 5 Dynasty QB and unlike a number of prospects, he has a very real shot at reaching it. The Rams are going to continue to build their entire franchise around him and you would be wise to do the same as long as you have the luxury to bring him along as your QB2.
What to Expect: It is hard to imagine we are including a Rookie QB with 4 NFL starts in this article, but Bradford is that good. This is an article intended for players that have begun to emerge and are on the verge of a legit breakout. Sam Bradford looks to have already established himself as a legit NFL QB. His accuracy is Troy Aikman like and his demeanor reminds us of Eli Manning. If what we are seeing now is an indication of what lies in the future, we say go out and grab this kid right now before it is too late. Despite his amazing QB2 production, Bradford belongs on your Dynasty Bench for the time being, whether you are Rebuilding or Contending. Sam Bradford is worth overpaying for in your league, with a big time return on investment a few years down the road.
And the Rookie Trend continues folks.........
The Top Dynasty TE, Jermichael Finley may have some serious competition for the Top spot 2 years down the road. A whole lot will of course depend on how the Bengals handle finding a QB that can effectively feed Jermaine Gresham the football.
Why we want Jermaine Gresham on our Dynasty Roster: In an age where TE's are being utilized like full grown WR monsters, landing an elite TE prospect can be hugely beneficial to your long term Dynasty Roster. Many evaluators feel that Gresham has an overall skill set/upside that is higher than Jermichael Finley. Gresham is another player (similar to Bradford) that missed his final season at the collegiate level due to a knee injury. With the Bengals, he has immediately stepped in and produced in a position that typically has a very steep learning curve. His build makes him an ideal redzone target and he could be a PPR standout at the TE position in time.
What to Expect: While his production hasn't been off the charts, he is finding himself on the field for most offensive snaps and has already recorded 22 receptions and 2 TD's though 5 games. Early season projections have him at a 70 catch season in his Rookie Year. This number will continue to grow as the Bengals find their aging receiving corps move toward non-relevance. The only thing holding Gresham back from big time Dynasty production is the QB situation in Cincinnati which clearly doesn't involve noodle armed Carson Palmer for the long haul. No matter who is under center, Gresham is a developing Beast and deserving of top shelf TE value in Dynasty leagues.
Another Tight End makes this list of Emerging Dynasty Prospects....
Another Rookie TE, yes, but Aaron Hernandez is not your typical Y-Receiver. At 6'2" and 250 lbs., this Emerging stud will likely serve a role on a pass happy Patriots squad closer to a versatile WR than an in line blocking TE.
Why we want Aaron Hernandez on our Dynasty Roster: At first glance, many questioned the Pats decision to draft 2 TE's (Rob Gronkowski in the 2nd and Hernandez in the 4th) in the 2010 NFL Draft. What the Pats evidently had in mind here was to move Randy Moss and build around a youthful receiving corps, clearly capable of big things in a season or two. The departure of Moss is only going to open up the passing game for other receivers on the roster. Hernandez, already on pace to reach approximately 70 receptions and 1,000 receiving yards in his rookie season, has the size and skill set to most closely resemble a true WR1 on the Pats roster...not bad for a TE.
What to Expect: Hernandez is in a great situation, and clearly is already a prime target for Tom Brady. He is not the TD threat that his TE counterpart Rob Gronkowski is, however his skill set allows him to line up in numerous personel groupings, getting him on the field more often and as a result more targets and yardage totals. It is hard to believe that over time he cannot develop into a solid TD option as well. As the youngest player in the league and with one of the best QB's in the game under center, the sky is the limit.
