| Needs Not Wants |
![]() |
#1 - Carolina Panthers |
Draft Selection Spots: 65, 97, 129, 161
Needs: With the first pick in this year’s draft there is no question that the Panthers need a QB. Being in a division with Drew Brees, Matt Ryan, and Josh Freeman it will tough to compete without a top QB. They could also look at Defense, since their pass rush has been exposed since Julius Peppers departed NC. Marcell Dareus could be that pick, but the likely scenario here is Cam Newton's high risk high reward resume. Look for the Panthers to upgrade both positions of need early on.
Wants: No one was more disappointed than the Panthers when Andrew Luck announced he was staying in school. So instead, the Panthers will attempt to surround their new QB of the Future with some weapons and TE is the one position that could use an instant upgrade. This class has a number of big, athletic types that could be game-changing pass catchers and a nice outlet for a young QB. Jimmy Clausen will likely be relegated to a career backup role, but will serve that position nicely.
![]() |
#2 - Denver Broncos |
Draft Selection Spots: 36, 46, 67, 181, 184
Needs: The Broncos have a lot of needs for the upcoming season; the biggest need is to fill the defensive lineman position. They finished 31st in run defense last year, and Nick Fairley and Marcell Dareus seem like likely candidates for the #2 pick. The need for a complimentarly RB and a go-to TE will be addressed for sure with John Elway running the show now. Even though Tim Tebow showed promise in 3 starts last season, he's not Elway's guy and that means QB could be addressed as well.
Wants: Having the 2nd pick, the Broncos have the chance to draft some big time talent in either Cam Newton or Patrick Patterson. The idea of having Champ Bailey and Patrick Patterson will give the Broncos one of the most feared secondary’s in the league instantly.
![]() |
#3 - Buffalo Bills |
Draft Selection Spots: 34, 68, 99, 121, 130, 164, 195
Needs: The Bills have a lot of holes, and with the 3rd overall pick they have some options. They can really use some O-Line and D-Line help. Being last in rushing yards allowed last season, the Bills could use a fierce pass rusher like Von Miller or Marcell Dareus if they are still on the board then. Look for them to improve their O-line is the later rounds as well, as defense seems to be the main priority.
Wants: Ryan Fitzpatrick was a nice surprise for the Bills this season, but he is not the future QB in Buffalo. The city and fans can be rejuvenated if they take a Cam Newton or Blaine Gabbert with that 3rd pick and start to build the offense around them. With some nice offensive weaponry on this squad, the Bills could be on the up and up. Head Coach Chan Gailey is a offensive minded HC that loves working to develop QB's.
![]() |
#4 - Cincinnati Bengals |
Draft Selection Spots: 35, 66, 100, 131, 162
Needs: With Carson Palmer threatening retirement and with Chad OchoCinco pursuing a MLS career, the Bengals are in a dicey situation. A big playmaking WR is a need with OchoCinco on the decline and no longer able to stretch the field. Both he and Palmer have a good chance of ending up in different uniforms next season. Drafting A.J. Green or Julio Jones would be a big upgrade, but if Palmer is serious, QB is the need. They also need to refurbish their linebackers during this draft too with age becoming a factor at the position.
Wants: Adding another RB to replace or compliment Cedric Benson will add value to the Bengals offense, but that would be considered a luxury with Bernard Scott a very capable 2nd RB.
![]() |
#5 - Arizona Cardinals |
Draft Selection Spots: 38, 69, 102, 133, 166, 179
Needs: The Cardinals sit at the five spot and are yet another team in need of a QB. They'd be wise to bring in a veteran to possibly bridge the gap to John Skelton, who still possesses starter upside. Being that this might not be the year to get one, they can address another huge need, and that is their defense. They have an old linebacker core and there is a lot of talent at that position in this year’s draft. Von Miller will give the Cardinals that pass rusher they need so badly. The Cards will upgrade their offensive line for sure as well in the later rounds to better protect their QB whoever it will be.
Wants: If even Blaine Gabbert or Cam Newton fall to the Cardinals, you bet the fans would love to see them as their new QB, giving them a franchise QB will make it easier to build their offense back to as it was two years ago with Kurt Warner. A high upside TE in the later rounds should also be high on the Cardinals list. Pay close attention to see if the Cards address the RB position. They still like Tim Hightower, but he is just a guy, and their first round selection from a couple seasons back - Beanie Wells - is still a question mark in their eyes.
![]() |
#6 - Cleveland Browns |
Draft Selection Spots: 37, 70, 101, 134, 163, 165
Needs: The Browns need to develop another young corner besides Joe Haden. A secondary of Patrick Peterson and Joe Haden could sound very enticing for Mike Holmgren. The Browns also need a pass rusher and Daquen Bowers would be a great pick if he were still on the board at the 6th spot. With Dick Jauron taking over the defense, and changing schemes the Browns need to address the defense.
Wants: Colt McCoy at this point seems to be the QB of choice for the Browns and a big playmaker at WR like A.J. Green or Julio Jones will give Colt that blue-chip weapon. A TE will spread the offense a lot more too and give the Browns a new and improved offensive plan. Should the Browns make a move on a QB in the first or second round, it is time to be concerned about McCoy's Dynasty future.
![]() |
#7 - San Francisco 49ers |
Draft Selection Spots: 45, 76, 107, 114, 138, 169, 185, 200, 222
Needs: With the most picks in this years draft, the 49ers will look to address a lot of needs. They have QB issues, and with new coach Jim Harbaugh calling the shots, a QB will be looked at. Look for this team to upgrade defensively in the first if no QB is present to take. They have an old secondary and can use some youth and talent at that position, Prince Amukamara can very well be their first pick.
Wants: Workhorse Frank Gore is the center of that offense, however he is coming off major hip surgery and could start his decline at any point. He still has some juice left in him, but drafting another RB to eventually replace him will be good insight into the longevity of Gore and also their confidence in Anthony Dixon. The 49ers WR corps is better than advertised but they may look to add some depth at this position in later rounds.
![]() |
#8 - Tennessee Titans |
Draft Selection Spots: 39, 77, 108, 139, 170, 201
Needs: With the 8th pick, the Titans have some issues to address, one is the QB position but it is unlikely that Cam Newton or Blaine Gabbert will be available, so settling for the later rounds to land a hgh upside developmental player like Jake Locker or Christian Ponder that can sit behind Kerry Collins for season is a solid game plan. The Titans also need a pass rusher or defensive lineman. The Titans struggled at this position last season and an upgrade of Nick Fairley or Da’Quan Bowers will be a great upgrade.
Wants: The Titans like what they have in Javon Ringer as a compliment to Chris Johnson so we don't expect them to look RB in early or mid rounds. A game changing WR or KR will add another element to the Titans game to take all the pressure off of Chris Johnson. A playmaker to line up opposite Kenny Britt and and emerging Jared Cook would be a solid plan for Tenn.
![]() |
#9 - Dallas Cowboys |
Draft Selection Spots: 40, 71, 109, 140, 171, 210
Needs: The Cowboys have some nice young talent on offense but their defense is aging and the need of big defensive end to play opposite DeMarcus Ware will give the Cowboys a feared D-line. Look for them to address the O-line as well to protect Tony Romo from another bad injury. A CB will be in consideration too with Terrance Newman aging if Prince Amukamara is available, this could be a nice pickup. The Cowboys have one of the top offensive units in the league.
Wants: The Cowboys/Jerry Jones love to make a splash on draft day, so even with Romo at QB, should one of the top QB's slide, look for them to take a one of these players to everyones surprise.
![]() |
#10 - Washington Redskins |
Draft Selection Spots: 41, 141, 152, 172, 203, 214
Needs: The Redskins are in a flux, they have needs at a lot of positions, taking WR in the first round seems likely, a sure playmaker WR will give McNabb a viable option to throw too. Look for them to look at Defensive Lineman as well with all the issues Haynesworth put on the defense last season. A WR or DL can be a viable pick at the 10 spot in the draft.
Wants: With Mike Shanahan running the show, you know he wants to win now, so they would love to draft a QB at in the first round if the situation seems right. Getting a playmaker for the Redskins offense can potentially have the Redskins make some noise in the highly competitive NFC East and an athletic Jake Locker who can throw on the run (lots of Shanahan bootlegs) would serve the team nicely.
![]() |
#11 - Houston Texans |
Draft Selection Spots: 42, 73, 104, 135, 173, 204
Needs: The Texans had one of the worst secondaries in the league last year, and they need to and probably will address that need in the first round. Prince Amukamara will be a great addition. They need to address the nose tackle position and linebacker since they are switching to a 3-4 defense. Taking care of these needs accordingly will help support their already explosive offense.
Wants: Getting another WR to go along with Andre Johnson will make the Texans receiving core extremely dangerous, not to mention AJ's not getting any younger and Jacoby Jones may depart via free agency. They are out of reach to get A.J. Green and Julio Jones at the 11 spot and it will likely be too early to take Jonathan Baldwin or Torrey Smith, but they can address this in the 2nd round if they please.
![]() |
#12 - Minnesota Vikings |
Draft Selection Spots: 43, 105, 136, 147, 167, 205
Needs: No Brett Favre, so it is quite clear a QB is a need here, at the 12 spot it will be hard to find one with value, but trading down or up can be a possibility. Look for the Vikings to upgrade the Defensive Line to replace Pat Williams and Ray Edwards. The #12 pick could bring some nice DE talent in a Robert Quinn or J.J. Watt.
Wants: Well the Vikings have a nice WR core in Harvin and Sidney Rice, but with the latter a free agent, adding another WR will seems like a priortiy. A playmaking TE project would be a nice late round addition as well.
![]() |
#13 - Detroit Lions |
Draft Selection Spots: 44, 75, 106, 151
Needs: With the injuries Matthew Stafford sustained his first two seasons, it is time the Lions upgrade their Offensive Line. Getting an OL will give them both value and need in the first round, and they can address the other needs in the later rounds with a LB or a big DE to establish a tough run defense with Ndamukong Suh.
Wants: A defensive back will be great for the Lions in the first round, considering the talent in the draft. This will help make the Lions pass defense a whole lot better than it has been the past few seasons. Adding another WR to line up opposite Megatron and Brandon Pettigrew would really boost this teams already solid offensive weaponry - not to mention eliminate the triple teams Megatron deals with on the daily.
![]() |
#14 - St. Louis Rams |
Draft Selection Spots: 47, 78, 111, 142, 206, 218
Needs: The Rams have a sold offensive foundation, so look for them to go defensive with their first pick. A big D-lineman or fast explosive CB or safety will address a big need for the Rams, since they like to run zone blitz schemes. But look for them to upgrade at WR to give Bradford some options to throw too as their 1 and 2 options in Brandon Gibson and Laurent Robinson are average at best.
Wants: Pay close attention to how they handle the RB situation this year as an aging SJax has taken a heavy pounding to date. They spent two draft picks on tight ends in last year's draft, including Fendi Onobun, so it would be a surprise if you drafted another project at the position. If they can get value in the middle rounds for a top TE prospect, though, they might have to pull the trigger.
![]() |
#15 - Miami Dolphins |
Draft Selection Spots: 79, 110, 143, 174 207, 208
Needs: The Dolphins had a nice offense on paper last season but everyone underachieved across the board. Chad Henne struggled down the stretch (despite a completion percentage of over 62% on the year) and they will be lucky to have any top QB’s fall to the 15 spot to replace him. Ryan Mallet or Jake Locker are viable options but might be a reach at 15. They need help in their secondary too and the later rounds will help them in that category.
Wants: With Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams potentially becoming free agents, the Dolphins would love a RB at the 15 spot. Mark Ingram has slid some and a surprise RB like Mikel Leshoure would be an exciting draft twist, but they might be able to wait until the 2nd round for that. The Fins lean heavily on the run, but it is time to start taking some shots downfield and they could use a speedster a la Torrey Smith to help with that.
![]() |
#16 - Jacksonville Jaguars |
Draft Selection Spots: 49, 80, 113, 120, 144, 177
Needs: The Jaguars have done a nice job competing in the prominent AFC South last year and the only thing that is missing is an elite pass rusher to get to the All-Pro QB’s that they face. Well, maybe not the only thing, but a versatile defender like Ryan Kerrigan or Aldon Smith can be nice pickups with the 16th pick. WR is needed too as Mike Sims Walker's days in Jax are numbered and while Mike Thomas is productive, he does not scare opposing defenses. Garrard needs help in the passing game, but his days in Jax are likely numbered as well as they need to eventually find a legit signal caller if they want to take the next step as a franchise.
Wants: In a perfect world the Jaguars will select a QB to understudy Garrard for a season or two. The first round seems like a stretch for Ryan Mallet or Jake Locker, but in later rounds Christian Ponder or Colin Kaepernick would be an exciting pick.
![]() |
#17 - New England Patriots |
Note* The Patriots will also select #28 in the 1st Round
Draft Selection Spots: 28, 33, 60, 74, 92, 124, 156, 188
Needs: With two first round picks thanks to the Raiders, and six picks in the first 92 picks, the Patriots will address all their needs and then some. With a young defensive core the Patriots need an upgrade at the pass rushing spot and D-line spot. Injury liabilities were a weak spot on their D-line last season and with two picks in the first round, they can upgrade with pass rushers like Cameron Jordan and/or Akeem Ayers who seem like good fits in the Belicheck 3-4 defensive scheme.
Wants: The RB position is a committee in New England with the emergence of Danny Woodhead and BenJarvus Green-Ellis, the Patriots now have viable RB’s. But a power back to balance their attack more like Mark Ingram or Mikel Leshoure will make their offense more of threat than it already is. Another big WR will be nice to fill the void Randy Moss left mid-season. For those teams looking to add a QB in the early 2nd round, expect the Pats to be involved with some heavy wheeling and dealing overnight from Round 1 to 2 being they own that #33 overall selection. A very valuable (if not the most valuable) pick in the 2011 NFL Draft because of circumstance.
![]() |
#18 - San Diego Chargers |
Draft Selection Spots: 50, 61, 82 89, 178
Needs: The Chargers have few draft selections and a lot of possible Free Agents, but the biggest need for this team, and the defense needs a good pass rusher and with the deep talent in this years draft a J.J. Watt or Cameron Jordan will fit in nice in San Diego. The need for a linebacker to play alongside Shaun Phillips and Kevin Burnett will certainly help too.
Wants: The Chargers offense is pretty sound so far, with another addition at WR to play with VJAX and Antonio Gates, will open up Rivers passing game and make the Chargers a much bigger threat on offense. Gates is getting older as well, so it wouldn't be surprising to see them take a legit TE prospect to ensure Rivers always has a big time weapon to throw to.
![]() |
#19 - New York Giants |
Draft Selection Spots: 52, 83, 116, 180, 211
Needs: The Giants have a nice young receiving corps, but could use some help in the backfield as Bradshaw and Jacobs continue to be injury liabilities. Mark Ingram could be a very tempting option if he is still on the board at 19. Look for the G-Men to focus on offensive line and defensive backfield in the 2011 NFL Draft. Any additions of O-Line talent to protect Eli Manning should help him continue similar production to the last few seasons.
Wants: While Kevin Boss is a reliable option for Manning, he is never going to be a highly productive pass catcher. The Giants could add some serious value to their offensive firepower if they added a legit receiving threat that lines up as a TE.
![]() |
#20 - Tampa Bay Buccaneers |
Draft Selection Spots: 51, 84, 115, 148, 182, 212
Needs: The Bucs have done a nice job drafting the last few years, and look for them to improve their defensive front in this year’s draft. Pass rushing was missing from this team last season so either an outside linebacker or fast defensive end will make this defense more explosive with their first pick. Look for them to upgrade in the secondary to help Ronde Barber who has anchored that part of the defense and it getting older. Look for all (or mostly) defense out of the Bucs this year.
Wants: With Josh Freeman and LeGarrette Blount breaking out last season, getting another pure slot WR to line up opposite Mike Williams and Arrelious Benn (ACL surgery) will put some more excitement into this offense and making it a lot easier to score on tough division opponents like the Saints and the Falcons. A young TE project to groom as Kellen Winslow's replacement could be a late round selection as well.
![]() |
#21 - Kansas City Chiefs |
Draft Selection Spots: 55, 86, 117, 132, 137, 194, 213
Needs: Finishing in 1st place last season is a bright spot for this young team, but to maintain that spot a DT to help stop run with Tamba Hali is a main priority. With a deep D-lineman pool this year, the Chiefs should have some options with their 21st pick, they also need to address their linebackers, to as their run defense gave up 110 yards per game last season.
Wants: A WR to play alongside Dwayne Bowe will open up the passing game for Matt Cassel. This will give the versatile Chiefs offense another option to throw to as Charles, Moeaki, and Bowe have made major contributions within the offense. They could also possibly nab a project QB, but not until the later rounds.
![]() |
#22 - Indianapolis Colts |
Draft Selection Spots: 53 87, 118, 149, 183
Needs: The main priority here is to protect Peyton Manning. Getting offensive line talent to replace the aging line that is in place already is crucial. Look for the Colts to look at 0-line help in the first round. The Colts also need a big defensive lineman to take the pressure of Dwight Freeney. A big DE possibility could be Muhammad Wilkerson. While the Colts obviously remain a pass first offensive, their struggles are entirely associated with an entire lack of run game. Addai still has some skills left in the passing game, and the jury is still out on Donald Brown. They need a legit power back to move the chains in short yardage.
Wants: The Loss of Bob Sanders hurts the secondary, and adding more secondary help will improve the Colt’s defense a lot. They will address this in the later rounds maybe, but the team is centered on Manning and they need to protect him.
![]() |
#23 - Philadelphia Eagles |
Draft Selection Spots: 54, 85, 103, 119, 146, 150, 217
Needs: The Eagles have one of the leagues most explosive offenses, and the O-line still gave up 52 sacks last year, so an OL should be addressed with their first pick. They also need a CB to play opposite Asante Samuel, either the O-line of CB position will be used for their first pick, but they will look to upgrade a lot at those positions regardless.
Wants: The Eagles have a decent defense in place already, adding another big play linebacker or defensive end, will give their defense a more versatile look and will improve their already good rush defenses.
![]() |
#24 - New Orleans Saints |
Draft Selection Spots: 56, 72, 88, 216
Needs: The Saints have a deep roster, but need an upgrade defensively. A pass rushing linebacker or defensive end will most likely be addressed with their first pick. Look for the Saints to upgrade their front seven throughout the draft, as their offense is already set.
Wants: The Saints would love to add to their highly explosive offense. Even with running back questions with Reggie Bush, Pierre Thomas, if they picked up a legit #1 back early in the draft, it will give the Saints another option to score, making them even more frightening to face. The Saints would be smart to add another legit WR with Colston's knees and Meachem's underperformance.
![]() |
#25 - Seattle Seahawks |
Draft Selection Spots: 57, 98, 153, 154, 168, 198
Needs: The Seahawks have needs on the offensive line and in the secondary. They need an interior blocker so that Hasselback is not running around so much as he was this past season. They need secondary help and Jimmy Smith seems like a good fit at the 25th pick. Look for them to upgrade both these positions throughout the draft.
Wants: Adding another big tall WR for QB Hasselback will give the Seahawks another chance to make the playoffs this year. For the future, getting a young QB to grow in a Pete Carroll offense is surely in the cards, but where they address the need is unknown.
![]() |
#26 - Baltimore Ravens |
Draft Selection Spots: 58, 90, 122, 175, 186, 215
Needs: The Ravens are about one player away it seems from being a championship contender. With aging veterans at the WR position; they need a speedy compliment to Anquan Boldin. WR Torrey Smith is a possibility to open up the middle of the field for Boldin and Heap and he fits the need nicely. Look for them to upgrade their secondary too as Ed Reed is getting older and becoming injury prone. A legit rookie TE would also be an ideal selection as Todd Heap is surrounded with question marks with regard to longevity.
Wants: With firepower at the linebacker position, the Ravens would love another pass rusher to take pressure of Ray Lewis and Terrell Suggs. With another great pass rusher, the Ravens will add another dominant threat to their defense.
![]() |
#27 - Atlanta Falcons |
Draft Selection Spots: 59, 91, 123, 155, 187, 199, 219, 220
Needs: The Falcons had a very nice season, and an upgrade at the DE position to go with John Abraham will give the Falcons a much needed pass rush they have not had the past few seasons. Or look for them to go with a blitz seeking Linebacker and this will give their defense a huge upgrade and will compliment their already potent offense.
Wants: Roddy White is one of best WR in the league, and adding another big WR to play opposite him will give QB Matt Ryan another big threat in the passing game and could possibly make the Falcons a super bowl contender again.
#28 - New England Patriots - See Above
![]() |
#29 - Chicago Bears |
Drafts Selection Spots: 62, 93, 126, 157, 190
Needs: It is no secret that the Bears need help protecting QB Jay Cutler, so they will definitely look at an OL at their first pick. Establishing a Strong O-Line for Cutler can make the Bears a dangerous team, as they made the NFC Championship without major question marks at the position. Look for them to add some WR depth to go along speedsters Johnny Knox and Devin Hester. The key here is to utilize Cutler to his maximum potential so pay attention to any additions that benefit him directly.
Wants: While the Bears should address their offensive issues, obtaining another big play defender to play with the likes of Urlacher and Charles Tillman will give make the Bears a top tier defense again. Adding another Safety or Linebacker will do the trick. With Chester Taylor possibly on the outs, another RB should be heading to Chicago in the middle rounds.
![]() |
#30 - New York Jets |
Draft Selection Spots: 94, 125, 158, 189, 197
Needs: The Jets defense has come a long way since Rex Ryan arrived in the Big Apple, but a big need they need to fill is their pass rusher and Defensive Ends. Their line is old with Kris Jenkins and Jason Taylor, and without a legit pass rusher their guys in coverage are hurt by it. DT Phil Taylor is a nice fit here or OLB Justin Houston, both are real physical, which will translate well into Ryan’s defense.
Wants: Santonio Holmes was a great pickup for the Jets, he is a free agent but he very well can be retained. Drafting another big play WR will take a lot of pressure of Mark Sanchez and hide the fact he still has a big learning curve ahead of him. Randal Cobb or Leonard Hankerson have the playmaking ability to do that, and are 1st-2nd round prospects.
![]() |
#31 - Pittsburgh Steelers |
Draft Selection Spots: 63, 95, 127, 159, 191, 223
Needs: The Steelers a have nice overall defense, but the secondary disappointed this year despite making an appearance in the Super Bowl. With Ike Taylor being a free agent and William Gay and Bryant McFadden having subpar seasons a CB will fill a hole. Aaron Williams should be available late first round and can fit in nicely in that defense. Look for the Steelers to improve their O-Line to better protect Big Ben who is sacked as much as any other QB in the league.
Wants: A high-end defensive end will add more power to the Defensive Line. With Brett Keisel and Aaron Smith leading the line, another big young rusher will give the Steelers defense more value.
![]() |
#32 - Green Bay Packers |
Draft Selection Spots: 64, 96, 128, 160, 192, 193, 224
Needs: The Packers have a few needs after winning the Super Bowl with 15 players on IR. But a sure fire need is to get help on the O-line. Aaron Rodgers has a quick release but multiple concussions last year make the need for an OL very apparent. They will look for some secondary help too; with Charles Woodson getting older adding another CD will add depth to the position
Wants: The Packers have nice WR personnel, however with Driver getting older, the Packers would like to take a WR in the first round to give Rodgers another huge target to throw too. This will make their offense even more dangerous than it already is. The more likely senario is to add a legit RB talent to balance out their attack in the coming seasons.
----------------------------
No First Round Picks for the Oakland Raiders
![]() |
Oakland Raiders |
Draft Selection Spots: 48, 81, 112, 145, 176, 209
Needs: With no first round picks (Richard Seymour Trade) the Raiders need to address weaknesses with all their picks. The biggest hole is at the O-line position, with Robert Gallery possibly gone, they need a big O-lineman to push the defense to open holes for Run DMC and Michael Bush, a big reason why the Raiders were 8-8. A CB will help too since Nnamdi Asomugha will not return.
Wants: With the potent run attack the Raiders now have, drafting a young QB will give them a new look for the future since there are questions regarding Jason Campbell.
