Dwayne Bowe Full Grown Monster: Week 12 Recap
Wrapping up Week 12, the question on everyone's mind is...can Dwayne Bowe be stopped? As it stands right now, the answer is no. Or about as much of a chance of defenses stopping Peyton Hillis, who is Beasting through the league at a Bowe-esque pace. On the flip side, a few Beasts struggled with injuries and ineffectiveness as Adrian Peterson and Crhis Johnson did not give owners what they expect this past Sunday. And Vincent Jackson rewarded fantasy owners patience with a 3 plays, zero catches and 1 injury performance. His hamstrung owners will have to continue to wait for him to get healthy as he looks likely to miss at least Week 13. Let's get into some more Week 12 action and developing Dynasty trends...

Quarterbacks:

The 2010 1st overall NFL draft pick has a ridiculously solid career ahead of him.  Sam Bradford has taken the Rams, a team (outside of Steven Jackson) with little supporting skill position players and turned them into weekly competitors.  Bradford has uncanny accuracy, solid poise, and an arm that is definitley going to be good enough.  Bradford won his first road game this weekend with a career performance throwing for 308 yards and 3 TD’s.  The Rams are now in first place in the NFC West and making a push for a division championship.  Bradford is forming a solid connection with his WR’s and TE’s each passing week.  He found 8 different receivers this past weekend and now we are seeing names like Danny Amendola, Michael Hoomawanui, and Billy Bajema showing up on the fantasy stat lines.  Bradford is already a big time Dynasty prospect and won't be acquired for any kind of discount.  The value of Bradford among Dynasty cirlces is old news at this point, but he is worth mentioning in this spot following the first of many big time fantasy performances from young Sam Bradford. Overpay now for future Top 5 value.

Quite possibly the leagues biggest arm finally posted a stat line fantasy owners have been waiting for.  Jay Cutler is one of the most talented QB's in the NFL and also one of the biggest risk takers.  The new Gunslinger has had his share of fantasy ups and downs since his tenure started in Chicago last season. Things were rolling for Cutler this weekend against the Eagles and solid fantasy numbers ensued.  The Bears are playing better football now than they were for the first third of the fantasy season and their offensive line is protecting him, giving him the time he needs for Mike Martz receiver routes to develop. This team is finally learning the Martz offensive system and Cutler could become an elite option this upcoming fantasy playoffs.  Expect Cutler's value to continue to rise for the remainder of this season. If your trade deadline hasn't passed, make a move now as most Dynasty squads have had Cutler on their bench lately and could be looking to "sell high" after his big weekend. Cutler's Dynasty value will be of a different perception by 2010 seasons end, so scoop him up now if the possibility exists.

Running Backs:

Maurice Jones-Drew has had fantasy owners somewhat frustrated through the first half of the 2010 season.  MJD is now on a 4 straight 100-yard game streak and he seems to be having the success rushing behind a Jags offensive line that was really struggling early in the season.  While MJD is still getting the lionshare of carries on a weekly basis, there is another Jags RB that showed some serious juice this Sunday vs. the Gmen.  Rashad Jennings received preseason love as rumors spread about MJD having complications from preseason knee surgery.  Jennings then disappeared as he became injured himself and rookie Deji Karim showed some flash filling in for the struggling veterans. Karim has had a few rookie mistakes and long term he profiles more as a change of pace back with big play ability. That is good news for Jennings, who has lead back potential. He compiled 53 yards and a score with only seven carries this weekend, and he appeared to run as hard as he has all season - despite his few 2010 season carries.  Jennings was a preseason sleeper by none other than MJD himself.  A solid endorsement from one of the leagues rushing elite.  More importantly, this little bit of insider trading from the mouth of MJD tells us that the Jags will look to reduce MJD's workload as soon as the Jacksonville coaching staff is comfortable to do so.  Expect a consistent success for MJD as the remaining schedule for the Jags in 2010 is coducive to big time rushing numbers, but another solid ypc average from Jennings and he may work himself into a flex option role in a few nice matchups through the close of 2010. He is a must have for MJD owners, but really, he is an intriguing stash regardless.

Fred Jackson is back on the fantasy radar, just as we are on the cusp of fantasy playoff time.  Big time fantasy production over the last three weeks has owners wondering his the previous few weeks are a fluke or if Fred Jackson is a legitimate option to round out the season.  The beauty here is that Fred Jax is really the only reasonable rushing option in Buffalo as uninspiring rookie CJ Spiller remains hampered by injury.  The Bills are going to continue to play hard and will likely spoil a playoff contenders chances at a trip to the postseason.  Jackson is an aging RB with little tread on his tires, but his Dynasty value is largely limited to a solid playoff run and RB4 value in 2011. Chan Gailey would be wise to get Spiller more involved in these last few weeks so that the Bills are able to gauge exactly what they have in him moving forward. This could be a slight drain on Fred Jax's value, but until that happens, he makes for a solid FLEX option.

Wide Receivers:

Well...it's official.  Dwayne Bowe is a Full Grown Monster.  Averaging nearly 7 catches, 105 yards and 2 TD's per game has made him one of the most impressive and fantasy relevant players this season.  Oddly enough, he was a non factor in September which make his rapid rise to stardom so confusing/surprising.  We will be the first to admit that he has been one of our least favorite players with a big time overrated tag.  Well it looks as though he is proving us wrong.  For those that decided to take a chance on him while his value was at its lowest sometime around late September has reaped the benefits.  Bowe is the beneficiary of most of the pass attempts/targets from Matt Cassel in a limited number of passing plays in KC.  The uninspired work ethic and big drops are in the rearview mirror as Bowe continues to destroy secondaries. He remains a must start stud for the remainder of 2010, but is he a a lock as a Beast in 2011 and beyond? Stay tuned...More to come on that in the coming weeks.

2010 4th Round NFL Draft Pick Jacoby Ford is on the verge of surpassing 2009 1st Round Draft Pick Darrius Heyward-Bey as the Raiders starting receiver opposite Louis Murphy.   Ford was the fastest man at the 2010 scouting combine is showing an unbelieveable versatility.  Ford has been the Raiders primary kick returner and has posted an impressive ~25 yard per return average with 2 TD's and just over 800 yards on the season.  Ford didn't catch a pass until Week 7, but since then in the last 5 weeks has caught 16 passes for 320 yards and 2 TD's.  While most of this yardage came on 2 big performances, it is becoming clear that Ford has the propensity for the big play and some of his game breaking catches have been quite impressive.  Monitor him for the remainder of 2010 as his Dynasty stock is on the rise. He makes for an excellent throw-in to a deadline deal as he could be a big part of the Raiders offense next season.  On a side note, we are quite high on the prospects of Louis Murphy and now are waiting on the Raiders to find themselves a consistent QB.

Matt Hasselbeck had no problem finding another option with Mike Williams out with an injury. Ben Obomanu stepped up with a TD with 159 yards on 5 catches. Obomanu has been a nobody throughout his career and nearly matched his season total this weekend in a career performance.  Obomanu has shown in 2010 that he can get into the end zone, posting 4 TD's on the season, so in the event you are looking for a very deep option to replace Big Mike Williams, he has limited flex value.  He is trending in the right direction the last few weeks averaging over 4 catches per game, but don't go overboard here. While a strong finish in 2010 may situate Obomanu with keeper status on your Dynasty squad heading into this upcoming offseason, the Seahawks are likely to upgrade big time at the position before next season and work in rookie Golden Tate.

Tight Ends

Most noteably from what many are calling Sam Bradford's breakout game was the fact that each of his 3 TD's were to his trusted Tight Ends.  Unknown Billy Bajema found the end zone twice on Sunday, while Michael Hoomanawanui...who?...scored the other. It appears the Rams have moved on from Daniel Fells, who was producing average numbers in the beginning of the season. Down the stretch Hoomanawanui (if healthy) and Bajema should have some fantasy value if you are really desperate. It’s clear that Bradford looks for his tight ends in the red zone. Hoomanawanui has scored in back to back weeks and should garner some attention from Dynasty owners as he is likely sitting on the waiver wire as an emerging Sam Bradford is building chemistry with him. He is a talented rookie that could emerge along with his quarterback from the 2010 draft class of the Rams. Deep Dynasty leaguers will also want to keep an eye on rookie Fendi Onobun. A raw athlete with Beast potential, he is not likely to be a fantasy factor for at least a few more seasons, but the potential payoff could be lucrative.

Kevin Boss was having a forgettable season and fantasy owners have mostly done just that. With the constant injuries to the game's elite TE's, Boss is working his way back into owners minds. He is slowly getting back to form, having now scored touchdowns in three of the past four games. In the near future Boss is a play that fantasy owners can feel comfortable about with Hakeem Nicks and Steve Smith injuried. Boss is now counted more heavily in the Giants passing attack and is one of the first looks for Eli in the redzone. He should see a healthy amount of targets and red zone looks in the next few weeks. His long term value is going to depend largely on what the Giants do in the offseason.  They have pass first TE Travis Beckum waiting in the wings, but Boss brings a complete game to the table. He will be a free agent this offseason, so his value will depend on what type of situation he walks into.
