Dynasty Rankings Update: RB
The top of the running back mountain is in flux. Two seasons ago it was Chris Johnson, Adrian Peterson, Maurice Jones-Drew and then everyone else. In 2010, Arian Foster crashed the party and has continued to march up the list this season, stopping at the top. He has some serious competition from LeSean McCoy and Ray Rice, as well as a potential bounceback in CJ and a potential breakout in Ryan Mathews. Let's take a look at the movement in our rankings as we get ready for the offseason.

Week 15 Review: 200 Club
After a pedestrian few weeks, Calvin Johnson came to play Week 15. After a pedestrian NFL career, Reggie Bush has come to play this season. Both players finished with over 200 yards receiving and rushing respectively on Sunday, lifting many an owner into the championship round of their fantasy leagues. There are more games to be played as the season winds down, but let's delve into more Week 15 action that caught our eye.

Week 9 Reactions: The Book on Eli
The clock is ticking. In many fantasy leagues, there are only a handful of weeks left before the playoffs start. The trade deadline is approaching and now is your chance to make a move in the standing. Or for next year. In a Dynasty league, there is so much more to consider than making the playoffs or being on the outside looking in. Do you trade a young prospect to go for it all? Do you sell off your productive running back to a contender now before he approaches 30 years old? Let's take a look at some Week 9 performances and their Dynasty impact.

Week 7 Thoughts and Preview
What an eventful week, that started With Brandon Marshall pointing out he would get kicked out of Monday Night's showdown with the Jets, but the only showdown that occurred was with coaches Jim Harbaugh and Jim Schwartz after the surprising 49er's beat the Lions in Detroit.  Dynasty Prospect Christian Ponder will make his first start Sunday against yes, the Packers, and Carson Palmer is back under center but with the Raiders, which can potentially boost his fantasy value as well as his WR's value down the road. This is a big week for waiver wire pickups with 6 teams on bye: New England, Buffalo, Cincinnati, Giants, Philly and San Francisco. Lets go through some more thoughts on how this week could pan out.

Freshman 15: Midterms
Don't believe the hype. That was the word on the street this spring and summer regarding Cam Newton. He is quickly making believers out of every critic with his play thus far this season. In what was widely considered a weak NFL draft, we are still seeing numerous rookies having instant fantasy impacts, from Newton to AJ Green to Demarco Murray. As we head to the midway point in the semester, we take a look at how some top offensive rookies are progressing.

Week 6: Thoughts and Preview
It is already Week 6 in the NFL season and the "Dream Team" is 1-4 and the Colts are still winless. Now both teams have bright spots, with the Colts it seems Curtis Painter has found a favorite target in Pierre Garcon. With a lot of teams on bye this week, lets go through some thoughts of each team who will be playing this week. Week 6 Bye week teams: Arizona, Denver, Kansas City, San Diego, Seattle, Tennessee.

Week 4: Thoughts and Preview

Three weeks in and only the Bills and Lions can keep up with the defending champions Packers with a 3-0 record. The only team or player that has made a bigger surprise splash than those two teams is Cam Newton who came back to earth this past week with a mediocre passing game but did manage to record his first win. Kenny Britt's season is now over with a torn ACL and MCL, and crushes Dynasty owners bad since Britt was easily playing like a Top 5 WR. Week 4 is rapidly approaching, let's run through some thoughts for each team.

Week 3: Thoughts and Preview
It is quite clear Peyton Manning is not coming back this season, and more injuries seem to be mounting up. Jamaal Charles just broke the hearts of many owners in any Redraft or Dynasty league, and with injuries to Michael Vick, Miles Austin, and Aaron Hernandez there is a lot to ponder about this upcoming week.  In particular, which players will step up in place of the injured.  A couple other parting shots from Week 2 and some thoughts heading into Week 3:

Early Season Reactions: Week 1
Week 1 has come and gone, leaving a tremendous amount of fantasy overreaction in it's dust. Is Cam Newton now a Top 5 QB? It's not likely, but that doesn't make him an immediate sell, especially if you play in a Dynasty league. Values are constantly fluctuating and it's important to be on top of the everchanging landscape, but it's equally important to keep the entire season (and future seasons) in perspective. Let's take a look at some quick hits from the week that was.

Fantasy Value: Over/Under
A player's fantasy value can change in an instant. Two years ago, undrafted rookie Arian Foster was only relevant in Dynasty leagues, and even there he was more of a flier because of his solid collegiate resume at Tennessee. Last season after Ben Tate's injury, he rose to a mid-round sleeper. By October, he had established himself as one of the premier running backs in the league on his way to a top fantasy finish. In this article, we'll take a look at what you can expect from a number of over and undervalued fantasy players this season and in the future.

Like most every fantasy season, 2010 gave us a number of breakout performances and seemingly out of nowhere players that became Beasts. 2008 RB Class: The Best Ever?

12-Team Expert Mock Draft
BeastOrBust was asked to participate in a 12-Team Experts Mock Draft hosted by Steven Lourie of the Football Fan Spot.  This is a 12-Team, 16 Round Mock Draft under the following assumptions:  Standard Scoring, Non-PPR and 6 Points for a TD.  A nice feature of this mock was for each participant to provide a comment on their draft strategy with each pick.  Please keep in mind loyal Dynasty Readers that this mock is Redraft based, and although varies from our typical Dynasty content, is an excellent tool for gauging the perceived current player value for 2010 pre-season trade negotiations etc.  Feel Free to drop us a note to let us know how we did.  Enjoy.

Dynasty Hype
Everywhere you look there is fantasy football information...on the interweb, on the radio, on TV...it's literally is everywhere you turn. With that comes a certain amount of fantasy hype - "excessive publicity and the ensuing commotion". We all have gotten gassed up at one time or another over something a beat writer or blogger said about one of our players, it's only natural. It's all about the hype. That can be a good or a bad thing when it comes to your Dynasty team, though, you just have to know how to sift through the information and look at the situation with a long term view in mind.

In each Dynasty Hype article, we'll take a look at a handful of players that are receiving either extreme positive or negative hype and look at it from a Dynasty point of view. It is important in a Dynasty league to always be thinking of players value and situation, because they fluctuate constantly. As Flava Flav said, "Don't believe the hype" (well, most of the time anyway).

Long Term Dynasty Player Prospects: NFL Draft 2010
When looking at the last few spots of any Dynasty league roster, you want to stock it with high upside talent that could eventually turn into a valuable trade chip or potential starter for your team. A combination of potential talent and potential opportunity make for an excellent Dynasty prospect. Rather than sitting on an aging role player that likely won't help your team at all, you can sit on a few prospects that have enough long term potential to warrant your patience. You will need to invest time in all of these players, but if just one develops, it will be worth the wait and the roster spot.

2010 NFL Rookie Running Back Profiles
The running back is a former cornerstone to any championship Dynasty football team. In the current version of the NFL, though, each team seemingly needs at least 2, if not 3 productive RB's on their roster. Gone are the days of every NFL team feeding one RB the ball 25 times a game every game. RB's are now asked to be productive while only touching the ball 10-15 times a game. The 2010 Draft Class is not filled with many RB's that will blow you away with their franchise player ability. Instead, though, you'll find numerous prospects that could very well be fantasy factors as part of commitees and time shares. Let's take a look at some of the top Dynasty prospects at the RB position.

Marion Barber
Entering the league as a punishing running back from the University of Minnesota, Barber was a popular fantasy sleeper as a rookie in 2005. In 2006, he carved out a name for himself by scoring 16 total TD's and he continued to cement his status in 2007 with more of the same. Barber was getting a limited number of touches, but he was making them count. So it was understandable that expectations were high for Marion "the Barbarian" Barber entering the 2008 season. Julius Jones was in Seattle and the Cowboys were prepared to give Barber the lion's share of touches for the first time in his career. Fantasy superstardom was in his sights, but the season did not go exactly according to fantasy owners and the Cowboys plans. As we look at the 2009 season and beyond, Marion Barber's fantasy value is changing again...
