Lance Moore Fantasy Profile

Height: 5-9   Weight: 190   Age: 26
Born: 8/31/1983 Columbus , OH
College: Toledo
Experience: 4th season
High School: Westerville South HS [OH]

Undrafted out of the University of Toledo, Lance Moore blew up in 2008. But where did he come from? Well, during his 4 years at Toledo he had 222 receptions, 25 TD's and 2,776 yards in 50 career games. He was a two-time first team all-MAC player and set a Toledo record with 14 TD receptions in his senior season.  In 2005, he was signed to the Saints practice squad, played in his first NFL game in 2006 and had 32 catches for 302 yards in 2007. In 2008, he really stepped up and the entire fantasy world took notice. He tallied 10 TD's, 79 catches and 928 yards through the air. Moore is a very tough WR, playing much bigger than his 5'9" frame suggests. He is an extremely hard worker and draws praise from the Saints coaching staff for the effort he has put in. He had alot to prove in 2009, and we walked away with more question marks, mostly because Moore could not stay healthy. He ended 2009 with just 14 catches for 153 yards and two TD's.

2010 Season:

Expectations were high for Lance Moore in 2009 and he disappointed in a big way. More importantly, he was passed on the depth chart by 3rd year WR Robert Meachem. Plus, deep threat Devery Henderson is still productive, making it difficult for Moore to get on the field. Drew Brees is known to spread the ball around, so Moore is still worth owning in deep dynasty leagues. But as a possession receiver, Moore will likely take a back seat most weeks on a team that has 3 other very solid wideouts and 2 excellent receiving running backs. If things remain the same in 2010, Moore will not have much value to your starting lineup.

Dynasty Outlook:

Moore can still be a useful player, especially in pass happy New Orleans, but without any dramatic roster changes, he is hard-pressed to be more than a stash. He does have ability, as seen in 2008, but that is likely his statistical ceiling. You can buy low this offseason (or perhaps check your waiver wire) because he could have value if Colston or Meachem were to get injured. If your league awards additional points for receptions, Moore gets a slight bump in dynasty value. Look for seasons of about 40-50 catches, 500 - 700 yards and 3-5 TD's with slightly more if everything breaks right.

Week 2: In or Out
Who's in? Bills QB Trent Edwards. He will be looking to get the Bills offense going and the no huddle could create problems for Tampa Bay's defense. His play should make T.O., Lee Evans and Fred Jackson solid starts against the Bucs on Sunday.

Before you set your starting lineup for the weekend, get the lowdown on who has a juicy matchup and who you should think about benching in deeper leagues.

Week 1: In or Out
No one needs to tell you to start Larry Fitzgerald or Aaron Rodgers every week. It's a rule you learn as you play fantasy football, you don't bench your beasts. Doesn't matter what the matchup is, you play them. Sure, you'll get burnt occassionally, but the true beasts are going to lead you to the promise land more often than not.  But you might be tettering on a 2nd QB or a flex player or between two RB's for one spot. Each week, we'll take a look at some of the players that you might be thinking about starting or sitting in deeper leagues.
