Nature of the Beast - Week 7 Review
Before we jump into our Week 7 Review, just a quick note about the beauty of playing in a Dynasty Fantasy Format.  For those of you Dynasty Leaguers that are coming to the realization that your push for a playoff spot is less likely than Jamarcus Russell throwing a TD pass, keep in mind that there is a reason you play Dynasty Football.  Now is the time to start re-tooling your roster in hopes of dominating in 2010.  While we suggest that any owner, no matter what your current circumstances, should be always looking to improve the face of our rosters, those players that realize they are out of the 2009 race are in the best situation to get a jump on the competition.  A Dynasty GM's work is never done.  Now go Get Serious!

Quarterbacks

Tom Brady has strung together 2 straight huge statistical performances.  While he is definitely looking like the Brady of old, keep in mind that his previous two opponents were against the Titans and the Bucs.  Neither of these teams have a victory yet.
Peyton Manning's 5 game streak of 300+ yard games was broken in Week 7.  He still posted 3 TD passes however.
Congratulations to those that bought low on Carson Palmer.  He looks better and better each week.  Palmer is looking to be a realible high end QB1 for the remainder of the season.  His receiving options are talented and plenty.  If he stays healthy he is a Top-5 QB in 2009.
Heading into Week 7, Aaron Rodgers had been sacked a league high 25 times.  Rodgers posted a huge game in Week 7 (3 TD's) and was not sacked in the contest.   Unfortuantely he faces Minnesota again next weekend in Green Bay.  The task for Minn. will be somewhat tougher than it was however playing at home in the dome in Week 4.
A changing of the guard in San Fran?  Finally.  While we like Shaun Hill (the dude just wins games), although his ability to win you a fantasy game is not as promising.  Alex Smith has waited paitently and in the second half of the 49ers matchup vs.Houston, he threw for 3 TD's and nearly put together an impressive 2nd half come from behind victory.  Alex Smith has a bigger arm than Hill which has Crabtree owners rejoicing.  Not to mention Frank Gore owners who will now get to see what Gore can do when opposing Defenses have to respect the passing game.
Brett Favre had a nice statistical performance however he took 4 sacks and 6 QB hits vs. the Steelers this weekend.  40 year olds taking this type of beating will not make it a full fantasy 16.  Oh yeah, he plays in Green Bay next weekend.
Eli Manning has shown he is Eli Manning the last couple weekends.  Part of the problem is that the Giants offense is struggling some and not that his foot is more injured than we realize...hopefully.  Eli and the Gaints offense will return to form following the Week 10 bye.
We will likely see Josh Freeman as the Bucs starter following the Week 8 bye.

Running Backs

Steve Slaton
is heating up.  He recorded 2 TD's this weekend, one on the ground and one through the air.  If A. Johnson misses any time, his role should increase in his absence.  He is proving to be a better WR than RB.
Steven Jackson racked up 123 yards rushing, but still hasn't found the end zone this season.  When he finds the end zone (or the Rams for that matter) is yet to be seen.
LT2 had a great opportunity this weekend and did nothing special.  He can no longer be counted on, even in favorable matchups.
Frank Gore rushed for 13 times for 32 yards vs. a porous Texans defense.  He is either still hampered by injury or the Texans have found a run defense.  We think a little of both.  His value should rise if the 49ers start passing more with A. Smith at the helm.
Ricky Williams still has wheels.  His 63 yard rushing TD this weekend was the longest of his career.  He is getting plenty of carries in a Dolphins run heavy offense to warrant RB2 consideration.  If he can stay healthy for a full 16, he has Top-15 RB status for 2009 and could be one of the top low price values of the fantasy season.
Neon Leon is sidelined for the remainder of 2009.  Shonn Greene will get his chance and looked great vs. the Raiders racking up 144 yards and 2 TD's on 19 carries.  His value is skyrocketing, but remember, he posted these numbers vs. the Raiders.
Cedric Benson is the real deal.  We think.....
Adrian Peterson made of mockery of a Steelers DB that tried to tackle him in the open field.  Dude is a BEAST!
Beanie Wells had 14 carries for 67 yards and a TD vs. the Giants.  He also showed a nice ability to catch the rock with 3 receptions on swing passes.  He is running better, got the goal line carries, and has averaged 13 carries the last two weeks.  He is emerging.
Feel free to cut Larry Johnson.  He is a fool.
The RB situation in New Orleans is still frustrating.  It is tough to tell who is going to get the rock on a weekly basis.
The RB situation in Dallas is frustrating as well.

Wide Receivers
Michael Crabtree debuted Sunday with 5 catches for 56 yards. Alex Smith could give him some additional value this year. Give him one more week to see how quickly he gets involved, but everything looks good so far. His arrival may have motivated Josh Morgan as well, who had 4 catches for 62 yards.
Hakeem Nicks
continues to emerge. He has scored a TD in four straight games and should be added in all re-draft leagues. Dynasty leaguers, he is legit.
Perhaps the only rookie WR more impressive this season is Percy Harvin. He only caught 3 passes for 46 yards, but added an 88 yard kickoff return for a TD. He is one of most dangerous playmakers in the NFL.
Harvin's teammate, Sidney Rice is also emerging as a legit fantasy weapon. He has 16 catches and over 300 yards in his past two games. The third year player could be scary good if he continues to develop.
Another WR that continues to impress is the Bears Devin Hester. He had the first 100 yard game of his career on Sunday and also scored a TD. He is on pace for just under 1,000 receiving yards this season.
Texans WR Andre Johnson looks like he is day to day with a lung contusion. Watch his status closely for this weekend's game.
Miles Austin has caught the eye of Tony Romo. Ridiculous numbers in his last two starts.  While these numbers cannot continue, look for him to continue to be a valuable fantasy asset.
Brian Hartline has earned more playing time. With mediocre / underproducing options around him, he has opportunity.  Ted Ginn Jr. is boring folks.
Wes Welker may not be 100% healthy, but he is a Top 10 option in all leagues with extra value in PPR leagues.
The Colts offense continues to be a well oiled machine. Reggie Wayne has scored in all but one of the Colts 6 games this season, and and Austin Collie has found paydirt in three straight games.  Some of the Pierre Garcon hype train has slowed with the emergence of Austin Collie.  The return of Anthony Gonzalez will be an interesting situation to monitor as the Colts receiving corps will become more competitive for PT.

Tight Ends

Owen Daniels can be counted on for Top-3 Tight End production for the remainder of the season.  He is currently on pace for 90 receptions, 1,100 yards and 12 Touchdowns.  Daniels value further increases as the #1 receiving option in Houston should Andre Johnson miss any time due to injury.
Vernon Davis had 3 TD's in the second half of his game vs. the Texans.  He now has 6 TD's and is emerging as a reliable Top-5 TE.
Jason Witten continues to underperform, considering the expectations coming into the season.
The Saints offense is built on the pass and a healthy Jeremy Shockey is going to remain a low end TE1 this season as he continues to be solid.
Visanthe Shiancoe is Brett Favres favorite red zone option, but when he does not score, his yardage output is tough to swallow. Still, he remains a solid start.
Jermichael Finley continues to be up and down, but his Dynasty stock is on the rise. He is going to be a Top 10 TE in the near future.  Pay close attention to the status of his injury from this past weekend.
Future studs Zach Miller and Dustin Keller continue to struggle due to inconsistent QB play.
