| 1. |
Chris Johnson - Titans
home vs Raiders: 2,000 rushing yards last season. CJ has put the goal at 2,500 this year. Can he do it? The quest begins against the silver and black. |
|
| 2. |
Adrian Peterson - Vikings
@ Saints: Opening night for the NFL. With Sidney Rice out for half the season, and Chester Taylor on the Bears, look for AP to get even more touches this season. It's a coin flip vs Chris Johnson for the number 1 spot. |
|
| 3. |
Frank Gore - 49ers
@Seahawks: The Niners seem primed for a division championship. With two first round picks in the O-line, and Alex Smith looking solid in preseason, Frank Gore is looking mighty Beastly for the 2010 season. He is in for a big game against an average Seahawks defense. |
|
| 4. |
Maurice Jones-Drew - Jaguars
home vs Broncos: Uber talented Maurice Jones-Drew is in for another huge season. He will be the focus of the Jags offense against a solid Broncos D. Start with confidence until there is game time evidence his knee injury is an issue. |
|
| 5. |
Rashard Mendenhall-Steelers
home vs Falcons: With Big Ben sidelined for the first quarter of the season, the Steelers will be returning to a run-first mentality. That should pay dividends for Mendenhall, with lots and lots of carries. |
|
| 6. |
Ryan Matthews-Chargers
@Chiefs: The preseason rookie of the year favorite, Ryan Matthews has the looks of a fantasy football superstar for quite a while. Even with Vincent Jackson, and Marcus McNeil holding out, the Chargers still have plenty of offensive firepower. A favorable week 1 matchup against a below average Chiefs defense should put Matthews rookie of the year campaign off to a solid start. |
|
| 7. |
Michael Turner-Falcons
@Steelers: Michael Turner is back at full strength. 27 touchdowns in 27 games, is legit. The Steelers D is still solid, but regressed from their Super Bowl form without Polamalu. With Troy back, the Steelers D is expected to return to championship form. Can Turner switch on the Burner this week? We think so. |
|
| 8. |
Steven Jackson-Rams
home vs Cardinals: The last we saw of the Cardinals defense, they were getting pummeled by the Packers and Saints in the '09 postseason. He's reportedly healthy from offseason back surgery and in for a big Week 1. |
|
| 9. |
Ray Rice-Ravens
home vs. Jets: The Jets defense is nasty. So is Ray Rice. Most weeks he is a sure bet for top 5, but the Jets defense can cause any man, no matter how tough, many sleepless nights. He still makes the top 10 this week. |
|
| 10. |
Cedric Benson-Bengals
@Patriots: Cedric Benson was a surprise last season, and will be the number one back for the Bengals in 2010. The Patriots D looks suspect, and Benson should be in for a solid outing Week 1. |
|
| 11. |
Arian Foster-Texans
home vs Colts: Arian Foster? You'll know him well after a big Week 1. The Texans boast one of the most fantasy rich offenses in the NFL, and a matchup against the Colts means fantasy points galore. |
|
| 12. |
Ahmad Bradshaw - Giants
home vs. Panthers: Bradshaw has leapfrogged Jacobs to the top spot in the Giants running game. The Giants need to run the ball better this season to make the playoffs, and will count on Bradshaw to get off to a good start against the Panthers. |
|
| 13. |
Matt Forte-Bears
home vs Lions. A Beast in '08 and a Bust in '09. New offensive coordinator Mike Martz should be able to figure out ways to get Forte some serious touches, and a favorable week 1 matchup against the Lions provides some upside. Let's see what he can do before putting faith in Forte. |
|
| 14. |
Shonn Greene-Jets
home vs Ravens: The clear cut stud RB in NYJ. It remains to be seen how many carries LT will steal this season. A strong outing by Greene against the stout Ravens Run D, and Greene should be ranked much higher for week 2. |
|
| 15. |
DeAngelo Williams-Panthers
@Giants: The Giants defense has a lot to prove this year, and teams ran wild against them last season. Even with split carries with fellow Beast Jonathan Stewart, Williams will get plenty of touches this season, and should run wild against a week run defense week 1. |
|
| 16. |
Ryan Grant - Packers
@Eagles: Ryan Grant quietly puts him solid numbers on an annual basis, and being the number one back on perhaps the best offense in the league, Grant is a safe bet to be a lower tier RB1 or upper echelon RB2 any week no matter what the matchup. The Eagles D is good, and will be a tough test for Week 1. |
|
| 17. |
Ronnie Brown-Dolphins
@Bills: Ronnie Brown returns from yet another season ending injury. When healthy, Brown is an elite options, but injuries seem to be an annual event with him. A running, receiving, and sometimes passing threat, Ronnie Brown should put up some numbers Week 1. |
|
| 18. |
Jamaal Charles-Chiefs
homes vs Chargers: Thomas Jones will take away some carries, but if the end of 2009 was a sign of anything, Charles could climb the rankings throughout the season. |
|
| 19. |
Joseph Addai-Colts
@Texans: Donald Brown may still more carries this season, but Addai is still a viable option in your running back rotation. A Week 1 matchup against the Texans will provide touchdown opportunities for Addai. |
|
| 20. |
Pierre Thomas-Saints
home vs Vikings: The Saints open up their title defense Thursday night in a rematch of last year's NFC Championship against a solid run defense in the Vikings. The Saints O is so good it can handle anything that comes at them, and with Thomas getting the majority of carries, he will get touchdown opportunities week 1. |
|
| 21. |
Jerome Harrison-Browns
@Buccaneers: With Hardesty on IR, the table is set for Harrison to pick up where he left 2009 against a weak Bucs D. Was it a fluke? He will get a chance week 1 to put a stranglehold on the Browns RB1 job. |
|
| 22. |
Jonathan Stewart-Panthers
@ Giants: Huge upside for Stewart this season, and did you see what he did to close out the season last year vs. the G-Men? A solid start. |
|
| 23. |
CJ Spiller-Bills
home vs Dolphins: Spiller makes the short list of preaseason rookie of the year candidates. A solid preseason puts Spiller in position to get the majority of carries in the Bills offense, and a home matchup against a good but not great Dolphins defense can lead to a breakout start for Spiller. |
|
| 24. |
Jahvid Best-Lions
@Bears: Anticipate a heavy workload for Best in Week 1 as the Lions look to kick off the season with a W. He'll b e counted on to help out the new and improved Lions offense. |
|
| 25. |
Ricky Williams-Dolphins
@Bills. The Dolphins running game didn't miss a beat last season when Ronnie Brown went down with a season ending injury. Williams was a beastly addition to any fantasy lineup for the second half, but returns to the number 2 position with Brown's recovery. The Dolphins love to run, and Williams is still a viable option. |
|
| 26. |
Tim Hightower-Cardinals
@ Rams: Lot of question marks for the Cardinals this year, but Hightower has impressed this preseason, and enters Week 1 ahead of Beanie Wells on the Cards depth chart. A favorable matchup against the Rams should create chances for Hightower to put some fantasy points on the board. |
|
| 27. |
Carnell Williams-Buccaneers
home vs Browns: Cadillac quietly produced a viable fantasy season in 2009. A favorable matchup against a weak run defense could help your fantasy team get off to a solid start. |
|
| 28. |
Beanie Wells-Cardinals
@Rams: Didn't get to see much of Wells in the preseason, and Hightower is RB1 for the Cardinals at the moment. Wells should climb up the rankings by Week 4. |
|
| 29. |
Knowshown Moreno-Broncos
@Jaguars: A great matchup vs. a weak Jags D is overshadowed by numerous question marks surrounding Moreno and the Broncos offense, most noteably a hamstring injury that Moreno confesses to only be at 80%. |
|
| 30. |
LeSean McCoy-Eagles
home vs Packers: McCoy had a solid but not spectacular rookie campaign, but is expected to stronly carry the Eagles running load this season. |
|
| 31. |
Clinton Portis-Redskins
home vs Cowboys: Portis is still the RB1 in Washington, and is still capable of putting up some big numbers. Should have a tough test to open the season against the Cowboys to see what's left in the tank. |
|
| 32. |
Felix Jones-Cowboys
@Redskins. The Cowboy running back situation is a complicated one, but Jones possesses beastly potential. Let's see how it plays out for a week or two before we rank Jones higher on the board. |
|
| 33. |
Justin Forsett - Seahawks
home vs 49ers: He's the number 1 for the Hawks, but a tough opponent makes him a questionable play to start the season. |
|
| 34. |
Thomas Jones-Chiefs
home vs Chargers: Jones has been an underrated the past few seasons, and still has potential to put points on the board in your fantasy matchup. Need to see how the carries are split between him and Charles before starting Jones with confidence. |
|
| 35. |
Marion Barber-Cowboys
@Redskins. Felix Jones will get the yards, Barber the touchdowns. He needs to score to have value though. |
|
| 36. |
Reggie Bush-Saints
home vs Vikings. While not a traditional running back, Bush can still break a touchdown anytime he touches the ball. |
|
| 37. |
Sammy Morris-Patriots
home vs Bengals: It is hard to have faith in any Patriots running backs. |
|
| 38. |
Fred Taylor-Patriots
home vs Bengals: See number 37. |
|
| 39. |
Brandon Jacobs-Giants
home vs Panthers: Yikes. A disappointing season in '09, he's fallen behind Bradshaw on the depth chart. Still might get some goal line carries but his value is falling fast. |
|
| 40. |
Chester Taylor - Bears
home vs Lions: Taylor served as an adequate backup to Adrian Peterson, and may get the chance to get more carries with Forte coming back from down season in '09. |
|
| 41. |
LaDanian Tomlinson-Jets
home vs Ravens: LT has owners excited after a great preseason, but lets be clear here folks, while he is going to be good for a TD here and there, he's generally old and in the way. |
|
| 42. |
Fred Jackson-Bills
home vs Dolphins. CJ Spiller looks like the real deal, but Jackson will still get some carries to give him a breather if he's healthy. |
|
| 43. |
Darren McFadden-Raiders
@Titans. It's now or never for McFadden. His career has been a huge bust, and if he doesn't do anything this season, he probably never will. |
|
| 44. |
Leon Washington-Seahawks
home vs 49ers: The return of Neon Leon is here. Off a horrific broken leg, it's still tough to trust him in a crowded Seahawks backfield. |
|
| 45. |
Darren Sproles-Chargers
@Chiefs: Sproles was a fantasy non-factor last season, and with the addition of Ryan Matthews, he doesn't bring much to the table other than to give Mathews a breather. If Mathews struggles however...watch out. |
|
| 46. |
Correll Buckhalter-Broncos
@Jaguars: Moreno's durability is a bit of a question, and is not 100% to play week 1. Buckhalter gets a bump in value with some additional touches. |
|
| 47. |
Kevin Faulk-Patriots
home vs Bengals: It seems like Kevin Faulk has been in the NFL for 20 years! He still receives playing time in the potent Patriot offense. With the way Belechiek utilizes the running back position, you never know. |
|
| 48. |
Donald Brown - Colts
@ Texans: Look for his role to grow slowly as the season progresses. |
|
| 49. |
Toby Gerhart-Vikings
@Saints: Heisman trophy candidate last season will be used in short yardage situations for the Vikings this season. He may find his way into the end zone to give him some fantasy value. |
|
| 50. |
Kareem Huggins - Bucs.
home vs. Browns: Will likely get some touches, watch the Huggins hype train pick up steam. |
|
