Week 10 Matchup Preview
After 9 weeks the Packers are still undefeated with no signs of slowing down, the Colts are winless and are currently in the lead for Andrew Luck. Roy Helu shined in his first start by catching a Redskin record 14 passes last week for over 100 yards, strengthening his Dynasty value in the process. There are no teams on bye this week so we are back into full action with a number of big matchups including Patriots-Jets, Giants-49ers, Saints-Falcons and more. Let's get into the rest of the matchups as Fantasy playoffs are right around the corner. Texans: Andre Johnson is still nursing a hamstring injury and has been ruled out for Week 10. Arian Foster should not have a problem exploiting that and Matt Schaub should be able to put up some decent numbers too. Watch for RB Ben Tate too, as he has rushed for over 100 yards last week as Foster's backup.
Buccaneers:
With Josh Freeman struggling in the passing game, only LeGarrette Blount is a viable option this week even with a pretty good Texans run defense. Mike Williams is questionable, if he does not play give a slight boost to Arrelious Benn and Preston Parker.
Rams:
Steven Jackson should run nicely against the Browns this week but nobody else seems to jump out being the Rams have the leagues lowest yards by a offense this year. Sam Bradford remains an ideal buy low if you are looking towards 2012.
Browns:
Same goes for the Browns, they are second to last in the league in offense so nobody jumps out this week either. If anything Josh Cribbs is a WR3/Flex who has scored a TD the last two weeks. Colt McCoy will need a strong finish to hold down the QB of the future title in Cleveland.
Steelers: The Bengals are good against the run this year, so Big Ben, Mike Wallace should have shots for big games, and WR Antonio Brown is becoming a WR2 option now after recording his 3rd straight 100 yard game last week.
Bengals: Yes, the first place Bengals are led by rookies Andy Dalton and A.J. Green, but they face a tough matchup this week with the Steelers. A.J. Green should be the only viable starter since he has been playing at an elite level all season. Cedric Benson should struggle to get anything going as well.
Redskins:
Roy Helu has seemed to emerge has the top RB for the moment. Facing Miami, he should get a big chunk of the targets this week, making him a nice RB2 this week. Other than that TE Fred Davis has a nice chance as he is Beck's only reliable target besides Helu. Dynasty leaguers, keep an eye on Leonard Hankerson to see if he gets more involved.
Dolphins:
Reggie Bush has been playing his best football ever the last two weeks. He has totaled over 100 yards in both games and averages over 6 yards per touch. He is a nice play this week with the Redskins. Brandon Marshall gets the 2nd most targets in the league, so as we saw last week, he can go off if he can just hold on the ball.
Titans:
Chris Johnson has been a bust so far, but the matchup with the Panthers this week can be good since they are among the leagues worst run defenses. He is more of an RB2 now and will need a strong finish to keep his lofty Dynasty ranking. The passing game might be hindered this week since Carolina has been pretty good on stopping WR's. Only Nate Washington should be a nice option this week.
Panthers:
Cam Newton and Steve Smith are always a play, and TE Greg Olsen can have a nice game since the Titans have given up the 5th most fantasy points to TE's this season. Jonathan Stewart is more of an RB3 this week, as he has been getting the majority touches over DeAngelo Williams so far.
Cardinals: Larry Fitzgerald only. The Eagles defense has struggled but with John Skelton at QB and Beanie Wells still banged up it is tough to see anyone else have a big game.
Eagles:
This is a good game for all Eagles to get back up on their fantasy prowess. Arizona has been giving up the big play a lot this year, which bodes well for Vick and his WR's. LeSean McCoy also has a great chance to increase his TD streak he has this year.
Broncos:
Willis McGahee went off last week and has a nice matchup again this week with the Chiefs. He has rushed for over 100 yards 3 times over the last 4 games, he's an RB2 for sure this week. You never know with Tim Tebow but he has a go to target lately and that is Eric Decker so watch out for the 2nd year wideout to keep emerging.
Chiefs:
Matt Cassel is facing a Broncos pass D that has been very generous to opposing QB's. The Average QB throws for 276 yards and 2 TD this season against the Broncos. Dwayne Bowe is a viable play and Steve Breaston is as well.
Jaguars:
Facing the Colts any Jag can go off, but the only big time play as always is MJD. He has had huge success against the Colts with 11 TD's in 10 games. WR Jason Hill can be a nice Flex option, he has scored a TD in 3 of the last 4 games. Blaine Gabbert needs to get on track and the Colts might be just the team to do it against.
Colts:
There is really nobody this week who is a viable option. Dallas Clark is out now, and Jacob Tamme is back as the TE. He shined last season when Clark was out playing like a TE1, but he has Curtis Painter as his QB this year. Pierre Garcon and Reggie Wayne are FLEX option at best.
Bills:
Facing the Cowboys this week, it does not give Fitzpatrick or his WR's a good matchup. Fred Jackson has an opportunity to shine this week. The last three weeks LeSean McCoy, Marshawn Lynch, and Steven Jackson have ran over Dallas, so Fred Jackson has a shot too.
Cowboys:
Demarco Murray is turning into a nice RB option for Dallas, and has a decent matchup this week too. With Miles Austin out, Laurent Robinson has been getting a lot more touches. He can connect for a big game if Romo does not make too many mistakes. Dez Bryant is a WR2 this week.
Saints:
Any Saint is a play, but Mark Ingram should be coming back this week and could pose a nice threat with the one of the best fantasy backfields along with Darren Sproles and Pierre Thomas. We just do not know who Brees will give the ball to more this week.
Falcons:
Facing the Saints, Matt Ryan is coming off his best performance and has a chance to build on that this week. His WR's Roddy White and Julio Jones are nice options too. Jones caught two long TD passes last week in his return from injury. Both WR's are WR1/2 for this week.
Ravens:
Flacco could see another nice game against the Seahawks, who are not good against the pass. Ray Rice and Anquan Boldin should see nice games this week. Torrey Smith is a solid FLEX option as he has been producing solid numbers in his rookie season and is increasing his Dynasty value each week.
Seahawks:
Even with Lynch's big game last week, facing the Ravens is not a recipe for success. If there were any Seahawk not named Lynch who could be a viable start is Sidney Rice but do not expect a breakout game from him either.
Lions:
The Lions ran over the Bears earlier this year, but without Jahvid Best this time Stafford should be throwing a lot more. This means Megatron and Brandon Pettigrew should see a good amount of targets. Both players scored in the previous meeting in Week 5.
Bears:
Matt Forte is a BEAST clearly this season, and WR Earl Bennett looked like Cutler's go to guy last week. The Lions have a good pass defense, so the Bears could be riding with Forte a lot more.
Giants:
Brandon Jacobs played well with Bradshaw out this week, but faces a tough matchup with one of the top defenses in the league. He is no more than a RB3 this week. TE Jake Ballard has been Eli's favorite target of late and is turning into a Top 10 TE quickly. Mario Manningham and Victor Cruz will receive most of the looks if Hakeem Nicks can't go (he's a game time decision).
49ers:
Frank Gore has rushed for over 100 yards the last five games. He is a must play. Vernon Davis is struggling this year so has Michael Crabtree. With the team winning with Gore it is tough to say that these two are viable options until they get the ball more often.
Patriots:
Crucial game this week for the Pats. Week 5 BJGE rushed for over 100 yards and 2 TD's against the Jets. He could play a big factor this week as Brady has struggled lately and the Jets are really tough on opposing QB's. TE Gronkowski and Hernandez are viable options anyway.
Jets:
Santonio Holmes and Dustin Keller should see a lot of targets this week. Mark Sanchez has been playing much better since the week 5 loss to the Patriots, and Keller has scored on the Pats the last two games. RB Shonn Greene should play decent too. He scored a TD earlier in the year in New England on 83 yards.
Vikings:
Christian Ponder almost beat the Packers in his first start, and faces them again. The Packers are good at everything expect for defending the pass, so Ponder could be a solid option this week. AP is always a play and Michael Jenkins caught 3 passes for 111 yards and a TD last meeting, but we would bet on Percy Harvin who has played well Green Bay in his career.
Packers:
Aaron Rodgers is a BEAST and his WR's Greg Jennings and Jordy Nelson are nice WR1 and WR2's respectfully. With Rodgers passing the ball so well, it is hard to trust the RB's James Starks or Ryan Grant. If you need to deploy one, it is James Starks rushed for 99 yards last meeting.
