Week 11 Reactions: Back in the Game
The fantasy landscape continues to change. Week 11 brought another wave of injuries and emerging talents. Kevin Smith came back from obscurity and injuries to Jay Cutler, Adrian Peterson and Fred Jackson will force some Dynasty prospects into action in the coming weeks. Fantasy Playoffs are around the corner and with the bye weeks over it's time to tighten up the bench. Handcuff your Beasts, cut the replacement level fodder and add a few young prospects that could get a chance later this season.Matt Stafford is realizing his potential this year - Beast.
Sam Bradford is not. He's still very young and needs more weapons but 2012 is pivotal.
Andy Dalton continues to impress. If it wasn't for Cam Newton, he might be the Rookie of the Year. The race isn't over yet though...
Jay Cutler is out for the season, opening the door for Caleb Hanie to show what he can do. He's not likely more than back-up material but worth a speculative add.
The Chiefs claimed Kyle Orton off waivers, which could provide a nice shot in the arm to their receivers for the rest of the season.
Note to Cam Cameron: Keep the ball in Ray Rice's hands. Makes you look smarter.
Adrian Peterson has a high ankle sprain and will miss at least a few weeks. That will give Toby Gerhart a chance to show what he can do. He has an average skillset, but could very well make an impact. Percy Harvin should also see more backfield actions.
Kevin Smith, cut from the Lions earlier this year, was re-signed after an impressive workout a few weeks ago. He got a chance to show what he can go and went off for 3 TD's and over 200 total yards on just 20 touches. He has a slightly above average skillset whose serviceable enough to make an impact for the stretch run. Just don't expect him to be a long term solution.
Fred Jackson is out for the year (that was the window closing on your chance to sell him) and now CJ Spiller will get a chance to shine. He does not run between the tackles well, but with a handful of touches, he could be an asset. He's dynamic but more of a gadget type player. The player who will come much cheaper in your league is rookie Johnny White. He's a better pure RB prospect with the potential to be the lead back here. Tashard Choice was just signed as well, and he could get an opportunity as well.
This just in: Jordy Nelson is a full blown Beast. Aaron Rodgers is still going to spread the ball around, but Nelson continues to produce in a big way. Jermichael Finley is on the short end of the stick at the moment and makes for a buy low candidate.
Torrey Smith is a true deep threat and Joe Flacco has the arm to find him. Can he step up next season and be more well rounded? He just might, but until he starts showing a more consistent game, don't pay through the nose for him.
Riley Cooper started in place of Jeremy Maclin and did well for himself, catching five balls, one for a TD. If DeSean Jackson leaves Philly after the season, Cooper could be in line for a good amount of work. He's definitely worth a flier.
Reggie Bush continues to produce from a fantasy perspective, but note that Daniel Thomas is still getting feed just as many touches. Long term, Thomas is going to be the guy here and he's a definite buy low right now. Ride the Reggie Train while you can.
Michael Crabtree had just his third 100 yard receiving game of his career on Sunday. He no longer has elite WR1 upside, but as a WR2/possession type, he could be a great long term option.
Rob Gronkowski is a beast.
