Week 13 Preview: The Stretch Run
Gearing up for the playoffs means Week 13 is a big week for most fantasy owners out there. With a number of injuries still plaguing some of the league's best players there are a lot of hidden gems to look out for this week. Victor Cruz is now a BEAST and a top 5 WR at this point of the season. Jay Cutler is not returning this season but Johnny Knox value has come on strong, being targeted 10 times by backup QB Caleb Hanie and has 7 catches and over 200 yards the last two weeks with a pair of TD's. Be careful of riding the Beanie Wells train this week but Chris Johnson is on the comeback trail. Let's take a deeper look into our preview for each team this week.
Eagles:
Facing a stiff run defense in Seattle does not mean LeSean McCoy will be stopped with Vick still out. McCoy is still the center of the offense and should see a good amount of touches. Vince Young might have a tough time though, the Seahawks have not allowed any WR over 75 yards since week 4, so be wary of all eagles except for McCoy. Brent Celek is a sleeper and DJAX if anything.
Seahawks:
Beast Mode is taking over the Seattle offense the last few weeks and playing like an RB1. Outside of Lynch no Seahawk is a good play especially with Sidney Rice now on IR. Marshawn Lynch is facing a weak run defense too so he should run all day.
Falcons:
The Texans have a very good pass defense this year, something you could not say last year. They allow the 2nd fewest yards per pass attempt at 6 yards. Matt Ryan has been hot lately so he is a nice QB2, and Roddy White has been heating up too but he is a must play anyway. TE Tony Gonzalez can step up too who has 3 TD the last 4 games. Michael Turner should carry a big load this week too. He is an RB1.
Texans:
Now down to T.J. Yates at QB he gets the job to hand the ball off to Arian Foster and Ben Tate. That duo is running over any defense they face. Andre Johnson might have trouble getting in rhythm this week with another new QB, he is more a WR2/3 this week given his QB.
Chiefs:
QB Problems have plagued this team the last few weeks but Kyle Orton might be able to change that around. For the moment, though, it is tough to see anyway worth a play except for Dwayne Bowe. Facing a Bears defense who love forcing turnovers can make it a long day for the Chiefs.
Bears:
Caleb Hanie did pretty well last week against a lowly Raiders Defense, but faces a mediocre Chiefs defense this week. That makes Johnny Knox a nice play given his last two weeks with over 15 targets and over 200 receiving yards. Matt Forte should get back on track this week and even Marion Barber is a FLEX option as the Bears will focus on a run attack more than the pass this week.
Broncos:
It's called Tebowing and it is taking over the NFL. There could be a lot of Tebowing this week too, the Vikings are generous to opposing QB's and could allow him to actually throw a little bit more. That makes his only target Eric Decker a decent WR3. RB Willis McGahee looks healthy and should see his usual 20+ carries this week, but the Vikings allow only 3.7 YPC so he is an RB2.
Vikings:
AP is out again this week, so expect a lot of Percy Harvin again who had a very productive game last week with a TD 95 receiving yards and a 104 kick return(Which he did not score on). Toby Gerhart is an RB3/FLEX play and should see 12-18 touches.
Titans:
Chris Johnson is playing well, having rushed over 190 yards last week. Now facing the Bills not so tough run defense he could be in for a big game again this week. He is an RB1/2 this week. Other than that, WR Damian Williams is a nice WR2/3 and should see his red zone targets from Hasselbeck.
Bills:
Stevie Johnson had a nice game against a tough Jets D last week but failed to come up in the clutch. The Titans have a tough pass defense too but with Fred Jackson done for the year and C.J. Spiller struggling, Johnson should see a good amount of targets this week. TE Scott Chandler has been getting Fitzpatrick's attention of late again and the Titans are the 5th worst fantasy defense against TE's.
Bengals:
Big Game for Cincy this week, and A.J. Green who scored on his only catch last meeting with the Steelers will get his chance again, he is a WR2 this week. TE Jermaine Gresham scored last meeting too so look for Dalton to give him red zone looks when the Bengals have the chance. It will be hard for Benson to run as well but he remains a RB2 because he will get those red zone carries.
Steelers:
Struggling off a bye last week Big Ben should get going this week. Be sure to get WR's Mike Wallace and Antonio Brown starting. Rashard Mendenhall went for 2 TD's last meeting with the Bengals, but has struggled this season, he is a RB2 for this week.
Colts:
They might not beat the Patriots but they do face the worst pass defense in terms of yards allowed. Dan Orlovsky will have opportunity to throw a lot giving Reggie Wayne and Pierre Garcon some value, but do not get too excited. RB Donald Brown is a RB3 this week too.

Patriots:
Being a 21 point favorite against the Colts this week means you can start all the normal Pats. If they do get up big early BenJarvus GreenEllis should get some big touches so he is a RB2 this week, and expect a big game from Welker this week. You are starting the TE duo as well.
Panthers:
The Panthers are facing another awful run defense this week in the Buccaneers. This is good for DeAngelo Williams who scored last week and is looking better than JSTEW the last few weeks. This goes for Cam and Steve Smith too. The Bucs give up big plays all over so even TE Greg Olsen can swing back into action. All these guys are good plays this week.
Buccaneers:
LeGarrette Blount is facing a terrible run defense so expect a big game. Mike Williams and Kellen Winslow who should see some catches giving Josh Freeman a big day as well. All are good options this week.
Raiders:
Carson Palmer has been playing at a QB1 level. He has not gotten on the same page with Darrius Heyward-Bey yet, but with Denarius Moore and Jacoby Ford likely out, he should get a solid amount of targets.
Dolphins:
Reggie Bush and even Daniel Thomas have a nice matchup here. Matt Moore has been very solid lately and that should continue this week against a mediocre Raiders defense. Brandon Marshall should continue to see a heavy amount of targets.
Ravens:
Ray Rice makes for his usual RB1 play. He should be heavily involved throughout the game as the Ravens look to control the clock. Torrey Smith and Anquan Boldin could make a few plays as Joe Flacco is poised for a solid outing.
Browns:
Peyton Hillis is back, but until he flashes his 2010 form, he's a FLEX play, especially against this defense. The Browns should be throwing a fair amount, making Greg Little a decent play, as long as he can hold onto the ball this week. Colt McCoy is a desperation QB3 play. No other Browns should be even considered at the moment.
Cowboys:
Miles Austin is out again this week, making Laurent Robinson a strong play. Tony Romo has been beasting lately and expect that to continue this week. Dez Bryant needs to show more in-game consistency. Jason Witten remains a TE1 and Demarco Murray a solid RB1 play.
Cardinals:
Larry Fitzgerald and Beanie Wells are your plays. That's pretty much it here. They desperately need Kevin Kolb to return to the lineup and hope he gives them a shot in the arm. Early Doucet and Andre Roberts are too inconsistent to consider.
Packers:
The Giants defense just got torched for over 500 yards by Drew Brees and the Saints. No reason why Aaron Rodgers and co. can't do the same. Even Jermichael Finley might get into the mix, as the G-men have struggled against athletic tight ends this year.
Giants:
Eli Manning has been flashing QB1 ability all season long and should continue to be a strong play against a weak Packers pass defense. Ahmad Bradshaw might return, which would hurt Brandon Jacobs value. Victor Cruz and Hakeem Nicks are both WR1 plays, while Mario Manningham is questionable.
Rams:
This offense continues to search for it's identity and has not yet been able to hit it's stride. Sam Bradford might not play due to injury, downgrading every player in the offense a bit. You probably were only looking at starting Steven Jackson and Brandon Lloyd anway, because all other plays are deep risks at best.
49ers:
Good matchup for all the Niners this week. Frank Gore should be able to pound out a good game and Kendall Hunter might even be a FLEX play. Through the air, Michael Crabtree is a WR3 and Vernon Davis a TE1.
Lions:
Matt Stafford is a strong play and Calvin Johnson should post monster numbers as well. Kevin Smith might be back, but expect the backfield work to be spread around for at least this week. Nate Burleson is a flex option and Brandon Pettigrew is a high-upside TE2.
Saints:
Drew Brees continues to spread the ball around, but Jimmy Graham is the apple of his eye. Both are elite plays. Marques Colston is in the WR2 range, and Lance Moore deserves FLEX consideration after 2 TD's last week.
Chargers:
The Jags Defense is not quite a push over. They have done a good job at slowing down opposing offenses. Philip Rivers has struggled at times this year, but is still posting borderline QB1 numbers. Vincent Jackson seems to be alternating huge games with duds, so he should be a WR1 this week. Vincent Brown drops to a deep FLEX play at best with the return of Malcom Floyd.
Jaguars:
Ugh. Maurice Jones-Drew is an RB1, but you already knew that. You also know to avoid pretty much everyone else in this offense until Blaine Gabbert starts playing like an NFL QB. Cecil Shorts is a player to keep your eye on in Dynasty leagues, as he may see more time in the coming weeks. Mike Thomas is miscast as a lead receiver and Marcedes Lewis looks more like he did in every other season outside of 2010.
Raiders:
Carson Palmer has been playing at a QB1 level. He has not gotten on the same page with Darrius Heyward-Bey yet, but with Denarius Moore and Jacoby Ford likely out, he should get a solid amount of targets.
