Week 15 Preview: Pressure Cooker
It's time to make some big decisions in fantasy leagues everywhere. A lot of nice matchups for RB's this week with something to prove. Can Felix Jones carry the load again with DeMarco Murray out for the season? Kevin Smith returns to the Lions for a tasty matchup with the Raiders, and Beanie Wells has a great matchup with the Browns. All these guys can produce RB1 numbers despite injury riddled seasons so far. Rookie QB's Jake Locker (if he starts), Christian Ponder, Andy Dalton and T.J. Yates can help your team as well, as each of those QB's are facing weak pass defenses. There is still more hidden gems and injuries to get through so let's visit all the week's matchups.
Cowboys:
After suffering two devastating last second losses in a row, the Cowboys have a nice matchup with the Bucs who give up the most fantasy points to opposing RB's this year. DeMarco Murray is out for the year so Felix Jones has the opportunity to break out this week and is a RB2. Tony Romo and his receiving corps are all nice options as well. The Bucs cannot stop much of anything of defense of late.
Buccaneers:
A struggling and hurt QB diminishes Mike Williams and Kellen Winslow's value this week even with a tougher Dallas pass d, so only LeGarrrette Blount is a solid option this week, as an RB2.
Seahawks:
No benching Marshawn Lynch at all! He has scored a TD in 9 straight games and rushed for over 100 yards in five of his last six games so he is a must play. WR Doug Baldwin played well last week and would be the only other viable option as a WR3. Chicago has a very solid defense all around.
Bears:
Marion Barber is an option but Seattle has a tough defense as well. If anything should get going it might have to be through the air where the Seahawks are more vulnerable, in that case Johnny Knox is the only option as a WR2/3.
Redskins:
Roy Helu could be the reason you could win a championship, and he is facing a Giants defense that has been tortured the last three games all around the field. Even with the downplay no other Redskin is a viable option outside of Santana Moss.
Giants:
You are playing Manning, Nicks, and Cruz no matter what, and with Manningham getting healthy he becomes a nice FLEX option this week along with TE Jake Ballard. RB's Brandon Jacobs and Ahmad Bradshaw are RB2's despite Jacobs getting the majority lately. The matchup with the Redskins makes all these Giants nice options.
Packers:
It is not often when your #1 WR goes down and it does not seem to hurt your offense. Without Greg Jennings, WR Jordy Nelson and James Jones become nice options this week and TE Jermichael Finley poses great value especially facing a weak Chiefs defense this week. Ryan Grant had his best game in about 2 years last week and is an RB2 this week.
Chiefs:
Dwayne Bowe is the only option. Packers do not have the greatest pass defense. WR2/3.
Saints:
Playing the Vikings this week all Saints are a go! TE Jimmy Graham and WR Marques Colston had nice games last week, but other WR Robert Meacehm and Lance Moore are nice fliers as well.
Vikings:
AP might return and if he does, you know what to do. If not Toby Gerhart is a decent option as a RB2. QB Christian Ponder is facing a Saints defense who give up big plays from time to time so red hot WR Percy Harvin has a chance to score again this week is a WR1.
Titans:
Jake Locker might get his first NFL Start this week and showed why he has big time Dynasty upside last week. He is facing the Colts so he is a viable option as well as WR Nate Washington and Damian Williams both WR2 options. Chris Johnson is a great option too but he could throw up a bust game, but the matchup is too good to sit him.
Colts:
If anyone is to have a big game it could be Donald Brown who is facing a Titans run defense that is generous to opposing RB's in fantasy points. The last 12 games they have given up at least 9 fantasy points per game to the opposing RB.
Dolphins:
Banged up QB means more for Reggie Bush who has been a nice RB2 the last 6 weeks. Also TE Anthony Fasano is a sleeper since the Bills allow the most fantasy points to TE in the league. Brandon Marshall is a nice option even with the QB issue as a WR2.
Bills:
WR Stevie Johnson has been playing well since the last meeting with the Dolphins in which he got shut down. WR2 this week and only viable option besides Ryan Fitzpatrick and C.J. Spiller, but they are more #3 options this week.
Panthers:
Cam Newton is a start but is facing a tough Texans pass defense which could limit him and WR Steve Smith in this matchup. Despite that both are #1 options either way. RB's Stewart and Williams should see a split again and are RB3 this week.
Texans:
Great matchup for Arian Foster and Ben Tate facing the 2nd worst run defense in the league. Tate is an RB2 while Foster of course is an RB1. T.J. Yates has been playing well of late and is connecting with TE Joel Dreesen the last two games in the end zone so he is a sleeper option. Owen Daniels is a TE1/2 this week given his matchup.
Bengals:
Andy Dalton faces a bad Rams defense this week so he should see a nice outing. QB2 for this week. A.J. Green and Cedric Benson can be started as well, be wary of Jermaine Gresham as the Rams are the toughest team on opposing TE's.
Rams:
Steven Jackson is the only option this week, maybe Brandon Lloyd.
Browns:
It is tough to see any Brown be relevant this week regarding fantasy due to the injuries they all are facing.
Cardinals:
Facing the Browns, Beanie Wells has a good matchup to go off. The Browns give up 4.7 YPC this season so Wells is a RB2 this week. Larry Fitzgerald is facing a stingy pass defense but even with the tough matchup Fitzy is a WR1.
Patriots:
You are playing Brady, and the Gronk already. Now facing a Broncos defense this week you can think about starting BJGE RB2/3 but the last few weeks the Pats have been mostly passing the ball instead so be wary. Aaron Hernandez also makes for a TE1 option.
Broncos:
Tim Tebow is facing the worst NFL pass defense this week, so he should be able throw it deep if necessary. You never know with Tebow lately so treat him like a QB2 this week. This could bode well for WR Demaryius Thomas and Eric Decker. RB Willis McGahee has a decent matchup too as an RB2.
Lions:
Could be a good week for RB Kevin Smith to return as the Raiders give up the 5th most fantasy points to RB's. RB2 despite his ankle could give out anytime this week. Stafford and Megatron are always plays as well. Titus Young and Nate Burleson are just rolls of the dice in deep leagues.
Raiders:
Michael Bush has a great matchup, the Lions allow 5.1YPC. RB1 this week. With Palmer struggling a little bit and his WR's a little banged up, Bush is the only viable option this week. Look for Denarius Moore to return, which might help out the passing game.
Jets:
Shonn Greene has been playing like a RB1 the last few weeks and is facing a Philly defense that is awful against the run. Greene has 4 TD in the last two games so he is a nice play this week. Mark Sanchez has a chance for another big week, which can be good for WR Holmes who scored a TD last week despite 12 yards.
Eagles:
Tough matchup for the Eagles, but McCoy is a BEAST so you are not sitting him. Vick and his WR corp will have a tough challenge this week. DeSean Jackson is a WR2 and Jeremy Maclin a WR3 if he can get back on track.
Ravens:
Ray Rice is facing a Chargers defense that allows almost 6 yards a play so of course you are playing him. WR Torrey Smith and Anquan Boldin could be in store for a tough challenge, and Boldin has not caught for over 60 yards the last five weeks. He is more a WR3 while Smith is a WR2.
Chargers:
The Chargers look great when they are all healthy. Rivers, Gates, Floyd, and Mathews are all playing very well but facing a tough Ravens D this week, but you can start all of them and Vincent Jackson. Rivers and Gates are your sure bets this week though as #1 options.
Steelers:
This looks like a great defensive matchup this week with the 49ers, but if Big Ben does play this week WR Wallace and Brown are always capable of breaking a huge play open so they are nice options. Rashard Mendenhall has a tougher task as ther 49er's have not allowed a rushing TD to a running back all season!
49ers:
Frank Gore could be the only option this week since the passing game with MIchael Crabtree and Vernon Davis might see a tough time getting free from the Steelers fierce secondary. RB2 and Davis is a TE1/2 option.
