Week 15 Review - Nature of the Beast
Quarterbacks

Ben Roethlisberger found himself in rare company against the Packers, passing for over 500 yards and 3 TD's. While not quite an elite option, Big Ben is making a case for inclusion. He has 22 TD's and just 11 INT's on the season and is establishing himself as a solid QB1 heading into next season.

His counterpart on Sunday, Aaron Rodgers, has vaulted into our number 1 Dynasty QB to own a few weeks ago and he showed why. Rodgers threw for 383 and 3 TD's and rushed for another TD. He is an absolute beast.

Chad Henne has shown tremendous poise and arm strength, but needs to improve his decision making to reach his full potential. He has two 300+ yard performances in his last three games, but with just 3 TD's. If the Dolphins are able to secure a WR1 this offseason, you will see even more improvement from him. He is a player you should target now in Dynasty leagues because his stock is going to be on the rise.

Joe Flacco decided to show up this week, throwing for 234 yards and 4 TD's on 21 of 29 passing. He had his first multiple passing TD game since Week 6. Flacco possesses an excellent upside at the QB position. He needs to show more consistency, but he has all of the tools to be elite in time. What we saw from him on Sunday and at the beginning of the season is exactly what he is capable of.

Running Backs

Chris Johnson is the leagues best fantasy Running Back.  Hell, he is making a strong case as the leagues top reality RB.  Eric Dickerson's single season rushing record of 2,105 yards is in jeopardy.  CJ needs to average 188 yards per game over the last two weeks to match this total.  Additionally, his 2,176 all purpose yards (thru 15 weeks) put Marshall Faulk's record setting 2,429 (difference of 253 yards) within reach as well.  His remaining two opponents are the Chargers (Week 16) and Seahawks (Week 17).  Records are sweet.  We'll see what he can do.

Beanie Wells topped 100 yards for the first time in his career (17 rushes for 110 yards and 1 TD).  Expect to see many performances like this through his career.

Jonathan Stewart displayed on Sunday night's perfomance why he is one of our top rated Dynasty RB's.  He was the first RB to go over 100 yards against the Vikings in over 35 games.  Impressive.  He is a powerful inside runner, but also has really nice speed when rushing toward the edge.

Jamaal Charles is legit.  Read more about him in our latest Emerging Dynasty Prospects article.  While he is posting some impressive numbers, don't lose sight of the fact his three 100 plus yard performances have come against the Raiders, Cheifs and Browns.  His remaining two games vs. the Bengals and Broncos are against significantly better defenses, so pay close attention if you are looking to acquire or move him this offseason.

Steven Jackson is a Beast.  His fantasy numbers have obviously struggled this season, but he is a tough dude and a true team player.  Unfortunately, this season will likely take it's toll in future seasons.

A shout out to Jerome Harrison.  His Beastly 286 rushing yars (and 3 TD's) is the third highest single game total in league history.  It also sets a Browns franchise single game rushing total that beats out Jim Brown.  Wow.  Like we said earlier, Records are sweet.

Wide Receivers

What a difference Matt Moore can make? Well, when you are talking about Jake Delhomme, then the answer is "Yes, definitely". Moore used Steve Smith, his deep weapon, just like Delhomme couldn't seem to do this season. Smith had 9 catches, 157 yards and a TD. He is still very much a viable fantasy option looking towards 2010, just as long as his QB is not Jake Delhomme.

Miles Austin continues to impress. If he continues to be this dominant, it will be very hard to ignore him as a legit Top 10 WR option in 2010. He does have talent, but ideally we would like to see additional data before saying this level of play is here to stay. Either way, he is definitely an Emerging Dynasty Prospect.

For a player that went undrafted in many Dynasty rookie drafts, Brian Hartline is a WR to watch for next season. He has shown solid rapport with Chad Henne and has the ability to get deep and make tough catches in traffic. He has 26 catches for 441 yards and 3 TD's. His 17 yards per catch could be a sign of good things to come. While his upside is somewhat limited to that of a high end WR3, he is a great roster gamble.

Another rookie, Mike Wallace made perhaps one of the most impressive TD catches of the season on Sunday. He finished the day with 2 catches, 79 yards and 2 TD's, giving him 34 catches, 609 yards and 5 TD's on the season. He had been quiet since Week 9, but Wallace has potential and is in an excellent situation in Pittsburgh. He makes a strong buy in Dynasty leagues if the price is right. Just don't inquire this week, because with that performance fresh in owner's minds, you would have to pay more than fair market value.

Breakout performer Mike Sims-Walker bounced back from three mediocre performances with 6 catches for 64 yards and a TD. He will go into next season primed to take the next step as a fantasy WR. He is worth the injury risk if you can acquire him, because his upside for 2010 is a high-end WR2. If David Garrard can remain a solid fantasy QB, MSW should continue to develop.

Tight Ends

Visanthe Shiancoe's upside is limited.  He is a TD machine, yes, but the problem with TD machines is inconsistency.

Jeremichael Finley is an elite TE.  Look for him to emerge and solidify his status as a top tier player by the middle of next season.  Problem is, he has been enough of a weapon already that he is going to be difficult to acquire.  His rising value has hurt the value of the other WR's on the Packers.

Heath Miller posted his best game, and only 100+ yard game this season.  With Big Bens 500+ yard passing day, it seems like every Steelers player that can catch a football had a nice game yesterday.  Miller is a consistent option each week, but his upside is totally limited.

John Carlson
has been very inconsistent this season.  A late season surge should have owners a little more comfortable if you have a vested interest in him.  You should however consider finding a backup plan should his poor play continue into 2010.

Dustin Keller - See John Carlson.  It's looking as though he will not match his rookie season stats.  The learning curve of Mark Sanchez has a little to do with Kellers poor season, but relying on Keller in 2010 is dangerous.
