Week 9 Reactions: The Book on Eli
The clock is ticking. In many fantasy leagues, there are only a handful of weeks left before the playoffs start. The trade deadline is approaching and now is your chance to make a move in the standing. Or for next year. In a Dynasty league, there is so much more to consider than making the playoffs or being on the outside looking in. Do you trade a young prospect to go for it all? Do you sell off your productive running back to a contender now before he approaches 30 years old? Let's take a look at some Week 9 performances and their Dynasty impact.

Philip Rivers is back. Right? Well, we want to see a few more outings, but that was a giant step in the right direction. He even brought Vincent Jackson back with him. Even rookie Vincent Brown got into the action with 4 catches for 79 yards in his first NFL start. Look for this offense to start hitting it's stride in the coming weeks.

The player Rivers was traded for, Eli Manning, has found himself in quite the zone so far this year. Through 8 games, he has over 2,300 yards, 15 TD's and just 6 INT's. The Giants schedule gets very tough, but Eli has shown to be a borderline QB1 starter. He has enough weapons to keep the strong play going - example:  Jake Ballard is right now a possible TE1 option.

Matt Ryan
was a popular breakout candidate this season, but he has not quite lived up to that billing. Sunday's 275 yard, 14 completition, 3 TD performance was a step in the right direction. With a healthy Julio Jones, he might be able to finish the season as a QB1.

Rookie Andy Dalton continues to hold his own, throwing for 3 more TD's on Sunday. With AJ Green playing as a legit WR1, Dalton is a solid QB2 option and a buy in Dynasty leagues if the price is right.

Matt Moore had a solid game as the Dolphins rolled to their first victory of the season. He does not have much of a Dynasty future, so now is the time to sell him if you are in a 2QB league. He might just be serviceable for the rest of the year. Chad Henne, on IR, also has a questionable future with the team as they likely will eye a rookie signal caller early in Round 1 of the NFL Draft. Henne still does have some upside left, but he's going to need an opportunity to showcase his talents. He's a hold because you likely won't get much in the way of return value for him.

Chris Johnson had a season high 4.6 yards per carry on Sunday, rushing for 64 yards and throwing in 4 catches for another 46 yards. It's his second time this season with more than 100 total yards. CJ owners are looking for any glimmer of hope that he can turn it around. Enjoy your glimmer.

Reggie Bush has stepped up his game for a 2nd week in a row, showing a burst and between the tackles running that has been missing in his 6 previous NFL seasons. Can he keep it up? Probably not, but it makes him a valuable FLEX option if he can stay involved in the passing game and also get 10-12 carries a game. Be weary of Daniel Thomas though, once he gets his health and confidence back, he might take the lead back reigns again.

Yes, Ben Tate has the talent to be this good.

So does Demarco Murray, but just remember that he was extremely injury-prone in college and profiles better as a 15-20 touch player in a timeshare. He's looking like what Felix Jones should have been.

Another rookie impressed on Sunday, as the Redskins Roy Helu Jr. had 14 catches for over 100 yards along with 41 yards rushing. The Redskins offense is horrid but John Beck his a checkdown champ, bodding well for Helu's value in the coming weeks. Never trust Shanahan fully though, because Ryan Torain is always lurking and Tashard Choice might work his way into the mix as well. In Dynasty leagues, Helu has definite RB2 upside.

Never going to breakout prospect Donald Brown had one of the best games of his career with 70 yards rushing and a TD. Promising rookie Delone Carter took a backseat and will struggle to make a fantasy impact this season. That makes him a nice buy low with 2012 in mind. When Joseph Addai gets healthy it will only complicate matters more.

Julio Jones has arrived. He'll be a Top 7 Dynasty receiver in short order. And the Falcons go-to receiver by 2012.

Antonio Brown has certainly made the most of his opportunities and looks like a future fantasy WR2. He is going to form a dynamic duo with Mike Wallace next season, with Emmanuel Sanders a solid 3rd option. Yes, Hines Ward will probably still be around, but he's being passed up by younger talent just like Donald Driver this year.

Torrey Smith
continues to make plays. With a little more seasoning, he could develop into a consistent threat. He's more WR2 than a truly elite threat, but his big play ability makes him dangerous.

Rookie Leonard Hankerson, active for just the 2nd time all season, made his first career start and caught 4 balls for 34 yards, including a well run 2 point conversion. Hank has the measurables to be a fantasy Beast despite shaky hands, but do not expect too much this season. He's a great throw-in acquisition in a deadline deal.

Earl Bennett showed signs of being a viable target on Monday night, catching 5 passes for 95 yards and a TD. He has always had good chemistry with Cutler and should stay involved moving forward. He lacks elite upside, but could turn into a slightly above average possession threat if he becomes the go-to Bears receiver. Johnny Knox needs an offseason trade at this point.

While there is definitely a new crop of tight ends taking over, Tony Gonzalez just continues to put up numbers. With 39 catches, 416 yards and 5 TD's, he's still a viable TE1. He might not play past this season, but if you need a consistent threat, he's worth paying a bargain price for.
